The Sports Festival Showdown
Part 69
As the days turned into weeks, I threw myself into my training, determined to make the most of my time at U.A. High School. The sports festival was just around the corner, and I could feel the excitement building up inside me. Osby, who had been sleeping on the floor of my room for the past month, had become a constant presence in my life. We had developed a comfortable routine, with Osby often joining me for my training sessions and providing valuable feedback on my technique. One of the things that had changed significantly over the past month was my relationship with Osby. We had grown closer, and I had started to appreciate his dry sense of humor and his unwavering support. He had become more than just a roommate; he had become a friend and a confidant. I had also started to notice the way he interacted with others, particularly his classmates. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, and his kindness and empathy had earned him a lot of respect. But despite our growing closeness, I couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to Osby than met the eye. There were times when I caught him staring at me with an intensity that made me feel like he was trying to read my thoughts. And then there were the moments when he would make a comment that seemed almost... flirtatious. I didn't know what to make of it, but I couldn't deny that it made me feel a little flutter in my chest. The day of the sports festival finally arrived, and I was raring to go. As I made my way to the festival grounds, I could feel the energy of the crowd building up. The first event of the day was the obstacle race, and I was excited to see what challenges lay ahead. The announcement came over the loudspeaker, and the crowd erupted into cheers. The first obstacle was revealed on the screen behind the announcer: a battle against the robots from the entrance exam. I felt a surge of adrenaline as I took my mark alongside the other students. Deku, Bakugo, and the others were all grinning confidently, but I knew that this was going to be a tough challenge. The starting gun fired, and we charged forward. The robots were just as formidable as I remembered, their sharp claws and agility making them a force to be reckoned with. I focused on using my agility and quick thinking to dodge their attacks, slowly but surely making my way past them. As I emerged from the robot gauntlet, I could see the next obstacle up ahead: a balance beam suspended high above the ground. I took a deep breath and focused on finding my center of gravity, using my Quirk to enhance my balance and stability. The beam was narrower than I expected, and the wind was blowing fiercely, making it hard to stay upright. I gritted my teeth and pushed on, my heart pounding in my chest. Finally, I made it to the last obstacle: an open area filled with mines. I had to use my wits and my agility to navigate through the field without setting off any of the explosives. As I crossed the finish line, I could see the scoreboard flashing above the announcer's head. Deku had taken first place, with me hot on his heels in second. Not bad, but I knew I could do better. The next event was the chivalry battle, where we had to earn points by defeating our opponents. The top 5 teams with the most points would move on to the next round. As I looked around, I saw Deku's name at the top of the scoreboard, his headband displaying a whopping 10 points. I knew I had to catch up, and fast. Just as I was thinking about my next move, Bakugo approached me with a confident grin on his face. "Hey, you're on my team," he said, clapping me on the back. "We're going to crush the competition." I couldn't help but laugh at his bravado, but as we charged into the fray, I realized that Bakugo was dead serious. We worked together seamlessly, our Quirks complementing each other perfectly as we took down opponent after opponent. In the end, we emerged victorious, with a staggering 25 points on our headband. Deku's team was close behind, but we had taken the top spot. As we walked off the field, Bakugo clapped me on the back once more. "You're not so bad for a weakling," he said, grinning. I rolled my eyes good-naturedly, but inside, I was beaming with pride. We had done it, and now we were one step closer to the next round. Bring it on.
