A Chance Encounter in the Alley
Part 87
The next day, I decided to take a walk to the park, enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. As I strolled through the streets, I found myself taking a shortcut through a narrow alleyway. The smell of trash and decay filled my nostrils as I walked down the dimly lit passageway. Suddenly, I heard a familiar voice and froze. As I turned a corner, I saw Dabi standing in front of me, and next to him was a guy I had never seen before. Without hesitation, I hid behind a nearby trash can, my heart racing with anticipation. The guy launched at Dabi, and before I could react, he cut him with his blade. Dabi cried out in pain as the man let out a blood-curdling scream, his body disintegrating into ash. My eyes widened in horror as I watched the scene unfold. Dabi grunted, clutching his shoulder, and I could see the cut was deep. "Fuck..." he muttered, wincing in pain. "Just fucking great... I'll have to cauterize it now. I can't even see it well." He gritted his teeth, saying "Fuck" again. I rummaged through my bag and grabbed a first aid kit, feeling a surge of adrenaline. What was I thinking? I would do this for Deku and my friends, but not for him? I pushed the thought aside and moved my legs, walking deeper into the alley. As I approached Dabi, he looked up and saw me. "And who would you be? Do you want to help me, little girl?" he asked, his eyes narrowing. I kneeled down beside him, trying to appear calm. "I'm barely younger than you. And believe me, I don't want to do this either." Dabi raised an eyebrow. "Why? No one is forcing you." I hesitated, then asked, "Just... please turn around, will you?" Dabi sensed no killing intent from me, just a faint feeling of annoyance, and turned around. I quickly grabbed a knife from my bag and said, "It's mine. You have to warm it up if you want to cauterize the wound." Dabi's eyes lit up. "You know my quirk, then. Were you watching my fight?" I nodded. "Yes, I was." Dabi's expression turned curious. "Has your boss told you to help me? If so, I don't need help." I shook my head. "I don't have a boss." Dabi raised his eyebrows. "Why are you doing this, then?" I sighed, feeling a bit frustrated. "Can you just heat the blade?" Dabi chuckled. "No, not until you tell me why." I let out a deep breath. "You realize you're going to die, right?" Dabi laughed. "Oh, I doubt I will die. But well, if you don't want me to... You'll have to tell me why." I hesitated, then said, "Because I'm a fucking idiot. I will regret this later. I even regret it now, but I don't like watching people suffer. Now, can you please heat the blade?" Dabi was taken aback by my response. He didn't expect me to swear, and he certainly didn't expect me to be doing this out of compassion. "Wait, so you're just a normal girl?" he asked, his eyes wide with curiosity. I nodded. "Yes." Dabi let out a disbelieving laugh. "And you know... you know I'm a villain, yes?" I nodded again. "I do know you're a villain, yes." Dabi chuckled. "And you're helping a villain?" I sounded annoyed. "Yes." Dabi raised an eyebrow. "Who tells you I won't just kill you after you patch me up?" I shrugged. "I think I can handle an injured villain." Dabi chuckled. "Look, princess, maybe you think—" I interrupted him. "I'm not a princess. Now, please, can you heat the blade?" I sounded more annoyed than I intended, and Dabi finally obliged, heating the blade with his quirk. I used it to cauterize the wound, and Dabi winced in pain. As I finished up, Dabi stood up, and I began to pack up my things. "I doubt it just healed like that, so at least keep it bandaged for a while," I said. Dabi launched himself at me, pinning me to the ground. "So, what was that about helping me?" he asked, his eyes glinting with amusement. I rolled my eyes. "So petty. Did I hurt your ego that much?" I quickly grabbed his shadow, using it to get him off me. Dabi asked, "What is your quirk, princess?" I shook my head. "Sorry, but I will not answer that." Dabi asked again, "What's your name? You can call me Dabi." I shook my head once more. "I will not answer that either." Dabi chuckled. "I'll just call you princess, then." I ignored it and stood up. "I will go now. Next time you see me, just pretend you don't know me." As I started walking away, Dabi asked, "Who knows when we'll meet again?" I turned back to him and said, "I happen to be very unlucky." With that, I walked out of the alley, leaving Dabi behind.
