Chapter 5: The Accident
Part 5
The sun cast its warm rays through the penthouse windows, illuminating the AMP members as they lounged on the couch and chairs, engaged in conversation. Ray sat on the floor, his short, curly black hair bobbing as he moved his head, playing with his phone. Kai sat beside him, occasionally glancing over at him with a soft expression. The tension from earlier still lingered, but it seemed everyone was trying to put it behind them. Agent sipped on a bottle of water, his thin black dreads bobbing as he nodded along to the conversation. Duke leaned back in his chair, his blackish-brown dreads cascading down his back like a waterfall. Fanum sat on the arm of the couch, his thin black braids framing his face. Chris and Davis chatted quietly, their voices low and gentle. As they lounged, Fanum suddenly stood up, his large frame towering over the others. "Yo, let's go play some basketball. I need to get some exercise," he said, his deep voice rumbling. The others agreed, and they all headed out to a nearby basketball court. Ray was excited to join in, and Kai couldn't help but feel a sense of pride watching him run and jump around on the court. Ray was surprisingly good at basketball, and the others were all impressed. As they played, Davis guarded Ray, trying to block his shots. But in the heat of the moment, he got a bit too aggressive and accidentally pushed Ray to the ground. Ray fell hard, scraping his nose, forehead, arms, and knees on the floor. The others rushed over to help him up, but Kai wasn't there. He was still on the court, his eyes fixed on the spot where Ray had fallen. It wasn't until he heard the others shouting and rushing off the court that he realized what had happened. He sprinted off the court, his heart racing with worry. When he arrived at the penthouse, he was shocked to see Ray's face covered in blood and scrapes. He felt a surge of anger and worry, and he couldn't help but lash out. "What the actual fuck happened?" he demanded, his voice loud and angry. The others looked at him nervously, and Agent tried to calm him down. "Kai, calm down, it was an accident," he said, his voice soothing. But Kai wasn't having it. He was furious, and he could see the fear in Davis's eyes. "An accident, huh? Well, I want to know who caused this so-called 'accident'," he said, his voice cold and menacing. Davis looked down at his feet, his face pale. "I-I didn't mean to, Kai. It was an accident," he stammered. Kai's anger was boiling over, and he could feel his heart pounding in his chest. "Ray, go upstairs, please," Kai said, his voice gentle. Ray nodded and headed upstairs, with Duke and Agent following close behind. Kai turned to the others, his eyes blazing with intensity. "What happened?" he demanded, his voice low and menacing. Davis spoke up, his voice shaking. "I was guarding Ray, and I accidentally pushed him. I didn't mean to." Kai's expression darkened, and he took a step closer to Davis. "How do you 'accidentally' push someone?" he spat, his voice cold and angry. Agent intervened, his voice calm and soothing. "Kai, Davis didn't mean to. It was an accident. Let's just calm down and focus on getting Ray okay." Kai took a deep breath and nodded, his anger slowly dissipating. He walked up the stairs, his heart still racing with worry. When he entered his room, Ray was sitting on the bed, gently kicking his feet back and forth. Kai walked over to him, his eyes scanning Ray's face and arms. "Are you okay? Are you sore anywhere?" he asked, his voice concerned. Ray nodded, and Kai sighed, relief washing over him. He examined Ray's wounds, his eyes narrowing as he took in the scrapes and bruises. "I'll get some medical supplies to clean and dress your wounds," he said, his voice gentle. As Kai turned to leave, Ray caught his arm. "Kai, it's okay. I told you I was fine," he said, his voice soft. Kai looked at him, his eyes filled with concern. "I don't care if you're fine or not. I need to take care of you." Ray smiled, and Kai's heart skipped a beat. He knew in that moment that he would do anything to protect and care for Ray.
