"A Late Night Surprise"
Part 20
As I trudged through the front door, exhausted from a grueling football practice that had run way later than expected, I couldn't help but feel a wave of relief wash over me. My parents had given me permission to spend the night at Liliana's, and I was looking forward to a warm bed and a good night's sleep. I had been thinking about her all day, and I was excited to see her. The house was quiet, but as I entered, Liliana's mom and dad greeted me with warm smiles. "Hey, Seth! Come on in. Make yourself at home," her mom said, as her dad nodded in agreement. As I made my way to Liliana's room, her mom called out, "Just a heads up, Seth, there's a new addition sleeping with Liliana tonight." My heart skipped a beat as I felt a flutter of anxiety. What could she mean? I had been looking forward to spending some quality time with Liliana, and now I was a little apprehensive. I approached her door, turned the handle, and pushed it open. As the door creaked open, I was met with a sight that made my heart stop. Liliana was lying in bed, wearing a cute blue and pink lacy sleep gown that made her look adorable. But it was what was beside her that caught my attention. A tiny baby sheep was snuggled up against her, licking her face, and she was giggling and giving it pats and kisses. I stood there, frozen in the doorway, my eyes fixed on the scene before me. Liliana looked up, caught my eye, and smiled. "Seth! Come meet Saoirse," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. The baby sheep looked up at me, its big, round eyes sparkling in the dim light of the room. I felt a wave of surprise wash over me, and I couldn't help but laugh. "Saoirse?" I repeated, my voice filled with amusement. "Where did you get that?" Liliana grinned mischievously. "I couldn't resist. I know you found it, but I just fell in love with it. And I have to say, it's the best sleep companion ever." I shook my head, chuckling. "You're something else, Liliana." As I approached the bed, the baby sheep nuzzled Liliana's hand, and she stroked its soft woolly coat. I couldn't help but feel a pang of affection for this little ball of fluff, and for Liliana, who was smiling at me with a sparkle in her eyes. I climbed into bed beside her, and we spent the rest of the night laughing, talking, and cuddling with Saoirse, who had quickly become the center of our attention. As I drifted off to sleep, surrounded by the people and creatures I loved, I knew that this was going to be a night I would never forget.
