"Confronting the Darkness Within"

Part 22

The doppelganger's words still lingered in the air, and I felt a sense of dread wash over me as I stared at the twisted reflection of myself hanging from the ceiling. Bakugo's grip on my hand was the only thing that kept me grounded, but I could feel his tension, his body coiled and ready to strike. Without warning, my hand jerked free from Bakugo's grasp, and I felt a strange, disconnected sense of myself moving, as if I was watching from outside my body. My hand reached out, and I saw a glint of metal in the dim light. A knife had appeared in my hand, and I felt a surge of horror as I raised it to my own chest. Bakugo's voice was a shout of warning, but it was too late. I plunged the knife into my own heart, and a cry of agony tore from my lips. I stumbled backward, my eyes fixed on the horror of what I had just done. I collapsed to the ground, my body wracked with sobs. The doppelganger's laughter echoed through the room, a cold, mirthless sound that sent shivers down my spine. Dabi's voice joined in, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Wow, I didn't know you had that in you. That's just sad." I couldn't tear my eyes away from the scene before me. The sight of my own body, slumped on the ground, was horrifying. I was crying, my body shaking with sobs, and yet I couldn't seem to stop. The pain and the fear were overwhelming, and I felt like I was drowning in my own despair. The doppelganger's laughter grew louder, and Dabi's voice joined in, their mocking tones a stark contrast to my anguish. Bakugo's face was a mask of rage, his eyes blazing with fury as he launched himself at the doppelganger. "You shut up!" he shouted, his fists flying. The doppelganger dodged Bakugo's attack with ease, its smile growing wider as it taunted him. "You can't protect her," it said, its voice dripping with contempt. "She's beyond saving." Dabi chuckled, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Yeah, and she's got some serious issues. I'm surprised she's lasted this long." Bakugo's rage boiled over, and he launched himself at Dabi, the two of them clashing in a flurry of punches and kicks. The doppelganger watched with interest, its eyes fixed on me as I lay on the ground, my body wracked with sobs. I knew I had to get up, to find a way to stop this nightmare, but for now, I was trapped in my own private hell.
