The Dark Side of the Stream
Part 2
As Adapt pulled into the driveway, he quickly turned off the engine and got out of the car, his eyes scanning the porch for any sign of Jason. But he was nowhere to be seen. Adapt's anxiety spiked as he rushed to the front door, hoping that Jason had made it home safely. He pushed open the door and called out, "Hey, I'm home!" but there was no response. Adapt sighed as he walked into the house, his eyes adjusting to the warm glow of the living room lights. Silky, their boyfriend, was sitting on the couch, engrossed in a movie, but he turned to look at Adapt as he entered. Silky's eyebrows scrunched as he asked, "Where's Jason?" Adapt shook his head, "He wanted to walk home, but he's still streaming." Silky nodded, his expression understanding. Adapt added, "I followed him for a bit, but then he got on the train, I think." Silky's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't say anything. Adapt told Silky that he was going upstairs to play on his computer, but he would still be keeping an eye on Jason's stream. Silky smiled and said, "Have fun, and update me if anything happens to Jason." Adapt nodded and headed upstairs to his office. He fired up his computer and started playing his game, but he also had his phone propped up to the side so he could keep an eye on Jason's stream. As he glanced over, he saw that Jason had finally gotten on the train, which was a relief. Adapt's eyes scanned the screen, taking in the view of the train's interior. There were a few ladies sitting behind Jason, chatting and laughing amongst themselves. Adapt's anxiety began to ease as he watched Jason settle into his seat, his stream still live for the chat. He focused on his game, but his eyes kept drifting back to the phone, making sure that Jason was safe. Silky's words of encouragement echoed in his mind, and he felt a sense of reassurance that Jason was okay, at least for now. As he played, Adapt couldn't help but think about the potential dangers that Jason could face, and he made a mental note to keep a close eye on him, even from a distance.
