Fears and Fears
Part 53
"Is he...?" Ashley asked, her voice cracking as she waited for Dr. Thompson's response. Dr. Thompson's expression was somber, and for a moment, Ashley thought she was going to pass out. Dr. Thompson took a deep breath before speaking. "There's a possibility that the baby might be in distress. We're going to run some more tests to confirm, but... we need to consider all options." Ashley felt like she had been punched in the gut. She looked at Ryan, her eyes wide with fear. "What does that mean?" she whispered, her voice trembling. Ryan's face was pale, his eyes filled with worry. "What kind of options?" he asked, his voice low and urgent. Dr. Thompson hesitated before speaking. "In situations like this, we have to consider the health and well-being of both the mother and the baby. If the baby is in distress, we might have to... deliver prematurely." Ashley's eyes welled up with tears as she processed the doctor's words. "No... no, no, no," she whispered, her body shaking with fear. Just then, a sharp pain shot through her stomach, making her wince. "Ow... oh God," she cried out, clutching her stomach. Ryan's face turned white with worry. "Ashley, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice panicked. Ashley took a deep breath, trying to calm down. "It's... it's just another contraction," she said, wincing as more pain came. Dr. Thompson nodded, her expression serious. "We need to get her into a delivery room, now. We'll do everything we can to ensure a safe delivery, but... we have to be prepared for any situation." As the medical team rushed to move Ashley to a delivery room, Ryan stayed by her side, holding her hand and trying to reassure her. But Ashley's mind was racing with fear, and she couldn't shake off the feeling that something was terribly wrong. The pain was getting worse, and Ashley could feel her body trembling with fear. She looked at Ryan, her eyes filled with tears. "What's going to happen to my baby?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Ryan's face was etched with worry, but he tried to reassure her. "Everything will be okay, Ashley. The doctors will take care of you and the baby. Just hang in there." But as Ashley looked at him, she couldn't help but wonder if everything was going to be okay. The pain was getting worse, and she could feel her heart racing with fear. She was scared, and she didn't know what the future held.
