The Unlucky Seat
Part 16
As we filed into the classroom, I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread wash over me. Our class had assigned seating, and I had always considered myself lucky to have a seat near my friends. But today, it seemed like fate had other plans. I scanned the room, searching for an empty desk, and my heart sank when I spotted the only available seat - right next to Bakugo. I let out a silent groan as I made my way over to the desk, trying not to draw attention to myself. Bakugo was already seated, his eyes fixed on some point in front of him, his expression still stern from our earlier confrontation. I slid into the seat beside him, trying not to touch him, and immediately regretted my luck. "Great, just my luck," I muttered under my breath, heavy with sarcasm. Bakugo's head snapped towards me, his eyes narrowing. "What did you just say?" he growled, his voice low and menacing. I shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "Nothing, just commenting on the wonderful view," I said, rolling my eyes. Bakugo's scowl deepened, and he turned back to face the front of the classroom, his shoulders tense. I let out a quiet sigh and tried to focus on the teacher, who was beginning to take roll. Mina, seated a few rows ahead of us, caught my eye and mouthed "sorry" before turning back to face the teacher. I smiled weakly and shook my head, trying to reassure her that it was okay. The rest of the class was a blur, with Bakugo and I barely speaking to each other. The tension between us was palpable, and I could feel the weight of his gaze on me, even when he wasn't directly looking at me. As the lesson dragged on, I found myself growing more and more restless, my mind wandering to all the things I could be doing instead of sitting in this stuffy classroom with Bakugo breathing down my neck. Just as I was starting to think that this was going to be the longest day ever, the teacher announced that we would be having a group project, and that we would be working in pairs. My heart sank as I wondered who I would be paired with, and my worst fears were confirmed when the teacher called out our names - Bakugo and I were to be working together. I let out a silent groan, feeling like my luck couldn't possibly get any worse. But, of course, it could. And it would. I just knew it.
