Chapter 10: "The Girls Find Out"

Part 10

Dorothy walked into the kitchen, trying to act nonchalant, but she couldn't help feeling a little nervous. She had spent the night with Lucas, and she knew that the girls would want to hear all about it. Rose was already at the table, sipping coffee and chatting with Blanche, who was flipping through a magazine. Sophia was sitting at the counter, eating a bowl of cereal. "Hey, Dorothy, how was your night?" Rose asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Dorothy tried to play it cool, but she could feel her face heating up. "It was fine," she said, pouring herself a cup of coffee. Blanche looked up, her eyes narrowing. "Fine?" she repeated. "That's not exactly the word I would use to describe a night with a handsome stranger." Dorothy sighed, knowing that she couldn't keep anything from the girls. "Okay, okay," she said. "I spent the night with Lucas. We...talked, and...stuff happened." Sophia looked up, her eyes twinkling. "Stuff happened, huh? That's code for 'I had a great time and I'm probably going to do it again'." Dorothy laughed, feeling a little embarrassed. "Something like that," she said. Rose leaned in, her voice excited. "Tell us everything! What was he like? What did you do?" Dorothy hesitated, not sure how much to share. But the girls were her friends, and she knew that they would listen and offer their support. "He's great," she said, smiling. "We talked, and laughed, and...it just felt really easy, you know? Like I've known him for years." Blanche raised an eyebrow. "And what about the physical stuff? Did he pass the test?" Dorothy blushed, feeling a little self-conscious. "Blanche, please," she said. But Sophia just chuckled. "Come on, Dorothy, we're not getting any younger. We want to know if he's got it where it counts." The girls all burst out laughing, and Dorothy couldn't help joining in. She knew that she had to be careful, that she was still getting to know Lucas and didn't want to get ahead of herself. But as she looked around at her friends, she knew that she was excited to see where things might go. She was taking a chance on Lucas, and on herself, and she was eager to see what the future might hold. As they chatted and joked, Dorothy felt a sense of gratitude towards her friends. They were always there for her, offering their support and advice, and she knew that she could count on them no matter what. And as they finished up their breakfast and headed off to start their day, Dorothy felt a sense of excitement and anticipation. She knew that she had a lot to look forward to, and she couldn't wait to see what the future might hold.
