Part 19
Four months had passed since Ashley's appointment with Dr. Lee, and she was now back to doing what she loved – singing on stage. The rush of adrenaline she felt as she belted out her favorite tunes was exhilarating, and the applause of the audience was music to her ears. Dominic was in the front row, beaming with pride as he watched her perform. It had been a whirlwind few months, with Ashley throwing herself into her singing career. She had taken Dr. Thompson's advice and started taking singing lessons again, and it had paid off. Her voice was stronger than ever, and she was enjoying every minute of it. But despite her success on stage, Ashley and Dominic's attempts to start a family had been unsuccessful. Ashley had been trying to conceive for months, but so far, there had been no luck. They were still determined, and Dr. Lee had reassured them that it might take some time. As Ashley finished her set and took her final bow, she couldn't shake off the feeling of unease that had been growing inside her. Lately, she had been feeling unwell, and had been experiencing nosebleeds. At first, she had brushed it off as a side effect of the medication she was taking, but as the days went by, the nosebleeds had become more frequent. Ashley pushed the thoughts aside as she made her way off stage, but they lingered in the back of her mind. She had a PET scan scheduled for next week, and she couldn't help but wonder if it was related to her health. The next few days flew by in a blur as Ashley prepared for her scan. She tried to focus on her singing and her upcoming performances, but her mind kept wandering back to the scan. What if something was wrong? What if the cancer was back? Ashley pushed the thoughts aside and tried to focus on the present. She and Dominic had plans to meet up with friends for dinner that night, and she was looking forward to a night out. As they sat down at the restaurant, Ashley tried to put on a brave face, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of anxiety that had been building up inside her. She prayed that the scan would come back clear, and that she could put her health worries behind her once and for all. Dominic reached out and took her hand, sensing her unease. "Hey, everything will be okay," he said, smiling reassuringly. "You're going to get through this, and come out even stronger on the other side." Ashley smiled back, trying to muster up some confidence. She knew that she was lucky to have Dominic by her side, and that together, they could face anything that came their way. But as they finished dinner and headed home, Ashley couldn't help but feel a sense of trepidation. What would the scan reveal? Would she be able to put her health worries behind her, or was this just the beginning of a new chapter in her life? Only time would tell.
