"A Wave of Nausea"

Part 13

Maya woke up to a familiar feeling, but this time it wasn't hunger that was gnawing at her stomach. A wave of nausea washed over her, making her mouth water and her stomach churn. She groggily got out of bed, her hand instinctively reaching for the trash can beside her bed. Sean, sensing her distress, quickly sat up and put a hand on her back. "Hey, are you okay?" he asked, his voice laced with concern. Maya nodded, trying to play it off, but Sean could see the panic in her eyes. He quickly got out of bed and followed her to the bathroom, holding her hair back as she leaned over the toilet. "I'm so sorry," Maya said, her voice muffled. Sean handed her a glass of water and some tissues. "Don't apologize, you're pregnant. This is normal," he said, trying to reassure her. But as the day went on, the nausea only got worse. Maya couldn't keep anything down, not even water. Sean had to constantly fetch her ice chips and crackers, trying to help her feel better. He even made her a special tea, one that he had read was good for morning sickness. As they sat on the couch, Maya clutching the trash can and Sean holding her hand, she felt a deep sense of gratitude towards him. He was taking care of her, being patient and understanding. Most men would have been frustrated or annoyed, but not Sean. "I'm so sorry I'm such a mess," Maya said, her eyes welling up with tears. Sean pulled her into a hug. "You're not a mess, you're just going through a tough time. And I'm here to help you through it," he said, his voice full of love and compassion. As the day dragged on, Maya's nausea only intensified. She couldn't even look at food without feeling queasy. Sean took it upon himself to cook dinner, making something light and bland that he hoped would agree with her stomach. But even the smell of cooking food made Maya feel worse. As the evening drew to a close, Maya felt exhausted. She had spent the entire day either in the bathroom or on the couch, feeling miserable. Sean tucked her into bed, holding her close and whispering words of encouragement in her ear. "I'll take care of you, Maya. We'll get through this together," he said, his voice a soothing balm to her frazzled nerves. Maya smiled weakly, feeling grateful for Sean's love and support. She knew that this was just the beginning of a long and challenging journey, but with Sean by her side, she felt like she could face anything. As she drifted off to sleep, she knew that she was lucky to have him, and that together, they would navigate the ups and downs of pregnancy and parenthood.
