"A Fracture in Trust"
Part 4
Sam's hands moved deftly as he finished stitching up the gash on my side. I winced as he tied off the thread, but he just gave me a gentle smile. "All done," he said, patting my hand. I stood up, ignoring the wave of pain that washed over me. Dean's eyes snapped to mine, a mixture of surprise and concern etched on his face. "Abby, wait," he said, taking a step towards me. But I was already moving, grabbing my jacket and slinging it over my shoulder. "Fine," I said, my voice cold. "I'll leave." Sam's eyes widened in alarm as I turned to walk away. "Abby, don't be hasty," he said, getting to his feet. But I was already heading for the door. I could feel Dean's eyes on me, could sense the turmoil brewing inside him. But I didn't care. I was hurt, and I was angry. And right now, I just wanted to get out of there. As I reached the door, I could feel Dean's hand on my arm, spinning me around. "Abby, wait," he said, his voice low and urgent. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean...I just worry about you, that's all." But I shook him off, my heart still reeling from his words. "You worry about the team," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "You don't worry about me." Dean's face twisted in pain, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of understanding in his eyes. But then his mask slipped back into place, and he looked away. I took a deep breath, feeling a sense of resolve wash over me. "I'm going," I said, turning to walk out the door. As I stepped out into the cool night air, I could feel the weight of Dean's gaze on me. I knew I was leaving more than just a room behind. I was leaving a part of myself, a part that I had trusted to Dean and Sam. I took a deep breath, feeling the sting of tears in my eyes. But I refused to let them fall. I had to keep moving, had to keep pushing forward. Because right now, I had no idea where I was going, but I knew I had to get away.
