Fractured Balance
Part 3
The air was still charged with tension as Kuvira spotted her opening, her eyes locked onto Opal's exhausted form. With a swift motion, she summoned a jagged shard of metal, sending it hurtling toward Opal's exposed flank. The Airbender, her defenses down, was caught off guard, and the shard struck her with a sickening crunch. Opal stumbled, her eyes widening in shock as she clutched at her side. For a moment, she seemed frozen, her Airbending faltering as she struggled to process the pain. Kuvira took a step forward, her expression twisted in a mixture of anger and triumph. But as she looked into Opal's eyes, she saw something that made her pause. A spark of fury, a flame of anger that seemed to ignite within the Airbender's very soul. Opal's gaze locked onto Kuvira's, and for a moment, the two friends stared at each other, the air thick with unspoken emotions. Then, in an instant, Opal snapped. Her eyes flashed with a fierce determination, and her Airbending surged back to life, stronger and more wild than ever before. The air around her seemed to shudder and convulse, as if it itself was alive and responding to her emotions. Kuvira stumbled back, her eyes widening in surprise as Opal unleashed a blast of air that sent her crashing into the wall. The Earth and Metalbender slid to the ground, her head spinning as she struggled to get back to her feet. Opal stood over her, her chest heaving with exertion, her eyes blazing with a fierce inner light. For a moment, it seemed as though she was unstoppable, her Airbending raging out of control as she lashed out at Kuvira with a fury that seemed almost animalistic. The grand hall around them was in shambles, the walls cracked and broken, the air thick with the smell of ozone and burned metal. Kuvira knew that she had to end this fight, and fast, or risk losing Opal forever to her own rage. But as she looked into the Airbender's eyes, she wondered if it was already too late.
