"A Night of Uncomfortable Revelations"
Part 5
The dim lighting of the restaurant seemed to amplify Shizuo's discomfort as he glared at Vanitas, still seething from being carried in like a child. The soft music and gentle chatter of the other diners only served to heighten his irritation. "Why do you want to talk to me so badly," Shizuo grumbled angrily, his eyes narrowing as he waited for Vanitas's response. Vanitas's smirk grew even wider as he leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving Shizuo's face. "Because I want to get to know you more," he said, his voice low and smooth. Shizuo's face began to heat up, and he couldn't hide the small blush that rose to his cheeks. He growled, trying to cover up his embarrassment. "I'm Shizuo Heiwajima, I'm 27 years old, and I hate violence," he said, his voice rough. Vanitas's eyes sparkled with amusement as he stared at Shizuo, his gaze piercing. "My name is Vanitas, and I'm 25 years old," he said, his voice dripping with an otherworldly intensity. "And I came to this world to find you." Shizuo's eyes widened, his mind reeling from Vanitas's words. What did he mean, came to this world to find him? And how did he even know about Shizuo? The questions swirled in his head, but before he could ask any of them, Vanitas continued. The waiter arrived with their food, and Vanitas began to serve Shizuo, his movements economical and precise. Shizuo watched him, still trying to process the strange conversation they were having. As they ate, Vanitas's eyes never left his face, and Shizuo couldn't shake the feeling that he was being studied, like a specimen under a microscope. The air was thick with tension, and Shizuo's anger and embarrassment began to give way to a growing sense of unease. What did Vanitas want from him, really? And why did he seem so... invested in getting to know him? Shizuo's eyes met Vanitas's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other, the only sound the soft clinking of their utensils on their plates.
