The Wait is Over

Part 17

The phone rang, shrill and insistent, piercing the quiet afternoon air. Ashley's heart skipped a beat as she hesitated for a moment, her hand hovering over the receiver. She was 28 weeks pregnant now, and the wait for the amniocentesis results had been agonizing. Avan, sensing her tension, nodded encouragement from across the room. With a deep breath, she picked up the phone. "Hello?" she said, trying to sound calm. "Ashley, this is Dr. Lee from Women's Health," a warm voice said on the other end of the line. "I'm calling with your test results." Ashley's heart began to pound in her chest. She felt Avan's eyes on her, and she glanced over at him, her hand tightening around the receiver. "Okay," she said, trying to keep her voice steady. "Everything looks normal," Dr. Lee said, her voice filled with a warm, reassuring tone. "The test results indicate that your baby is healthy, with no chromosomal abnormalities or genetic disorders detected." Ashley let out a sigh of relief, feeling a wave of joy wash over her. She looked over at Avan, and his face lit up with a smile as he mouthed, "Is everything okay?" Ashley nodded, tears of happiness welling up in her eyes. "Yes, everything is fine," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "Thank you, Doctor. That's great news." Dr. Lee chuckled. "I'm so glad to hear that you're excited. You and your husband must be thrilled." Ashley smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards the doctor. "We are," she said. "Thank you for calling. We really appreciate it." As she hung up the phone, Ashley let out a whoop of excitement. Avan was by her side in an instant, wrapping his arms around her and spinning her around the room. "We did it, Ash," he exclaimed, his eyes shining with happiness. "Our baby is healthy, and we're going to have a beautiful little boy." Ashley laughed, feeling a sense of joy and relief wash over her. She knew that this was just the beginning of their journey as parents, but for now, she was just happy to bask in the glow of good news. As they hugged, Ashley felt a sense of peace settle over her. She knew that everything was going to be okay.
