Chapter 75: Late Night Visitor
Part 74
A week had passed since Kou and Mitsuba's heart-to-heart conversation, and their relationship had grown stronger as a result. The days blended together in a blur of laughter, tears, and whispered promises. As the sun set on another day, Nene found herself nestled in her cozy little apartment, scrolling through her phone with a mischievous glint in her eye. She typed out a text to Amane, her fingers flying across the screen. "Hey, want to come over? I have a ton of homework to do, and I could use some company," Nene sent, her eyes fixed on the screen as she waited for a response. The clock on her phone read 10:03 pm, and she knew it was late, but she was hoping Amane would be up for a late-night study session. A few minutes ticked by, and then her phone buzzed with an incoming text. "Just got out of a meeting with my advisor. I'm on my way," Amane replied, her response immediate. Nene's face broke into a smile as she tossed her phone onto the couch cushion. She quickly got up and made her way to the kitchen, rummaging through her cabinets for snacks. As she waited for Amane to arrive, she munched on a bag of potato chips, her mind wandering to Kou and Mitsuba. She wondered how they were doing, if they had faced any challenges in the past week. The doorbell rang, and Nene's thoughts were interrupted. She hurried to the door, flinging it open to reveal Amane standing in the hallway, a stack of books clutched in her arms. "Hey, I brought some notes from my psychology class," Amane said, holding out the books. "Thought they might help with your homework." Nene's eyes widened as she took the books from Amane, her heart swelling with gratitude. "Thanks, you're a lifesaver," she said, stepping aside to let Amane in. As Amane entered the apartment, Nene couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over her. She was surrounded by good friends, good food, and the promise of a new day ahead. The night stretched out before them, full of possibility and promise.
