Chapter 73: Facing Reality
Part 73
The calmness of the moment was shattered as Mitsuba's body tensed up, his voice laced with anxiety. "You do know what that means right? People will judge you, your family might outcast you- and... and.. you won't experience a normal sex life- are.. are you okay with that?" Mitsuba began, his words tumbling out in a rush. Kou's grip on Mitsuba tightened, holding him close as he processed the concerns. He had expected this, had known that Mitsuba would have doubts and fears about their relationship. He took a deep breath, trying to find the right words to reassure Mitsuba. "I've thought about it," Kou said, his voice calm and steady. "I know that being in a same-sex relationship comes with its challenges. But I'm okay with that. I'm okay with being judged, with facing prejudice and ignorance. Because being with you, Mitsuba, is worth it." Mitsuba's body remained tense, his anxiety palpable. Kou could feel his heart racing, his breathing quick and shallow. He gently stroked Mitsuba's hair, trying to soothe him. "I know it won't be easy," Kou continued. "I know that there will be people who won't understand, who will judge us and criticize us. But I also know that we have each other, and that's all that matters. We'll face it together, okay?" Mitsuba's voice was barely above a whisper. "But what about... what about sex? I don't know if I can... if I'm good enough..." His words trailed off, and Kou could feel his embarrassment and uncertainty. Kou's heart went out to Mitsuba, and he pulled him closer. "Mitsuba, you're enough," he said, his voice filled with conviction. "You're more than enough. We'll figure it out together, okay? We'll take it slow, and we'll make sure that we're both comfortable and happy." Mitsuba's body relaxed slightly, his anxiety easing as Kou's words sank in. He looked up at Kou, his eyes searching for reassurance. "I just don't want to lose you," Mitsuba said, his voice cracking with emotion. "I don't want to be a burden to you." Kou's heart swelled with love and compassion for Mitsuba. He pulled him into a tight hug, holding him close. "You'll never be a burden to me, Mitsuba," he whispered. "I love you, and I'll always be here for you. We'll face everything together, okay?"
