Chapter 54: An Unexpected Reconnection
Part 54
The sudden departure of Hawks left me standing there, staring at the feather in my hand. I couldn't help but feel a little dazed, still trying to process the unexpected encounter. Recovery Girl walked into the room, a warm smile on her face. "Ah, I see you're doing okay," she said, her eyes scanning me from head to toe. "You can go now, I'm sure you'll be fine." I nodded, still feeling a bit stunned, and tucked the feather into my pocket. Recovery Girl turned to Bakugo, who was still scowling. "And you, Katsuki, seem to be in good shape too," she said, her voice gentle. "Why don't you take your friend here back to the dorms? I'm sure you both could use a good rest." Bakugo grunted, but nodded, his scowl softening slightly. I smiled, feeling a bit more at ease, and we set off towards the dorms. As we walked, Bakugo muttered under his breath, "What's with you and Hawks, anyway?" I shrugged, feeling a bit self-conscious. "I don't know, he just showed up and started talking to me," I said. "I didn't expect it." Bakugo snorted. "Of course not. You're just a nobody, after all. But Hawks, being Hawks, decides to take a liking to you." I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help feeling a bit excited about the encounter. "Hey, being a fan of his is not a bad thing, is it?" I asked, trying to tease Bakugo. Bakugo scowled, but I could see a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Shut up, it's not the same," he said, but his tone was a bit softer. We walked in silence for a bit, the tension between us dissipating. As we approached the dorms, Bakugo spoke up again. "You know, I don't trust Hawks," he said, his voice low. "He's always been a bit too smooth for my taste." I nodded, feeling a bit more serious. "I know what you mean, but at the same time, he did just give me his contact information," I said. "Maybe he's not as bad as you think." Bakugo raised an eyebrow, but said nothing, and we continued walking towards the dorms, the evening sun casting a warm glow over us.
