Feline Possession

Part 12

The stray cat, still cradled in Asher's arms, gazed up at him with an unnerving intensity, its tail twitching languidly. Asher, oblivious to the cat's sudden curiosity, continued to scan their surroundings, his eyes darting back and forth as he tried to get their bearings. Kaito, however, noticed the cat's attention fixed on Asher and felt a shiver run down his spine. The cat's ears perked up, and it began to sniff Asher's face, its whiskers twitching as it explored every nook and cranny. Asher, still on high alert, didn't flinch, but Kaito could sense a subtle change in his demeanor. The cat's sniffing grew more insistent, and it started to nuzzle Asher's cheek, purring softly. Suddenly, the cat's demeanor shifted. It licked Asher's face, and Kaito could swear he saw a flicker of something almost... possessive in the cat's eyes. Asher, still trying to process what was happening, didn't react, but Kaito felt a pang of unease. The cat began to lick Asher's face more enthusiastically, its tongue darting in and out of Asher's mouth. Kaito watched, transfixed, as Asher's expression changed from caution to surprise. The cat's eyes seemed to gleam with a newfound intensity, and it started to rub its face against Asher's, purring loudly. Asher, still holding the cat, looked at Kaito with a mixture of confusion and alarm. "Kaito, what's going on?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Kaito shook his head, unsure of how to respond. The cat, still rubbing its face against Asher's, seemed to be marking him, claiming him as its own. Kaito felt a shiver run down his spine as he realized that the cat's behavior was more than just affectionate – it was possessive. As they stood there, frozen in uncertainty, the cat's purring grew louder, and it began to dig its claws into Asher's jacket. Asher winced, but he didn't try to pull away, his eyes locked on Kaito's. "I think we've got a problem," Kaito said, his voice low and cautious. Asher nodded, his eyes still fixed on the cat, which was now gazing up at him with an unblinking stare. "I think you're right," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. The cat, still purring contentedly, seemed to be basking in Asher's attention, its eyes gleaming with a newfound possessiveness. Kaito couldn't shake the feeling that they'd just stumbled into something much bigger – and more complicated – than they'd ever imagined.
