Concerns and Fears
Part 11
Mrs. Thompson's eyes narrowed as she continued to examine the images on the screen, her expression growing more serious by the second. Ashley's anxiety spiked as she watched the sonographer wave the ultrasound wand around, but then suddenly stop in one spot. The machine's screen flickered, displaying a clear image of the baby, but Mrs. Thompson's gaze was fixed on it with an intensity that made Ashley's heart sink. Without warning, Mrs. Thompson switched off the machine, and the room fell silent. Ashley sat up quickly, her eyes wide with concern. "Is everything okay? What's wrong with my baby?" she asked, her voice trembling. Mrs. Thompson's expression softened, and she placed a reassuring hand on Ashley's shoulder. "I'm going to go get my boss, Dr. Lee. He'll want to take a look at the images and discuss them with you." Ashley's mind was racing with worst-case scenarios as Mrs. Thompson quickly exited the room, leaving her alone and worried. Ashley threw her legs over the side of the examination table and stood up, her eyes fixed on the door. She felt a sense of unease wash over her, and her heart was pounding in her chest. What could be wrong with her baby? She thought back to all the things she had done during her pregnancy, wondering if she had done something to cause a problem. As she waited, Ashley's thoughts were a jumbled mix of fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. She had been so looking forward to this ultrasound, hoping to get a glimpse of her baby and reassurance that everything was okay. But now, she was faced with the possibility that something might be wrong. The door opened, and Mrs. Thompson returned with a tall, middle-aged man with a kind face and a stethoscope around his neck. "Dr. Lee, this is Ashley," Mrs. Thompson said, her voice professional. Dr. Lee smiled warmly at Ashley and nodded. "Hello, Ashley. I understand you're having an ultrasound today." Ashley nodded, her voice caught in her throat. "Yes, I was just...Mrs. Thompson was just doing the scan, and then she stopped and said she'd get you." Dr. Lee's expression turned serious, and he nodded. "Let's take a look at the images, shall we?" He turned to the ultrasound machine, and Ashley followed him, her heart heavy with concern. What was wrong with her baby?
