**Beyond the Walls of Despair**

Part 1

The sun was setting over the rugged landscape outside the walls of our city, casting a golden glow over the desolate terrain. I was part of the survey team, tasked with gathering crucial information about the terrain and potential threats that lay beyond our fortified stronghold. Hange, my beloved boyfriend, was part of the hang squad, responsible for our safety and security. We had been working together for years, and I had grown accustomed to having him by my side. As we ventured further away from the walls, our senses were on high alert. The air was thick with tension, and every snap of a twig or rustle of leaves made us jump. Suddenly, a deafening roar shook the ground beneath our feet. A titan, its eyes fixed on us, charged towards us with reckless abandon. Hange yelled a warning, but it was too late. The titan ambushed us, its massive hand swiping through the air with deadly precision. I tried to dodge, but it was too quick. I felt a searing pain as the titan's fingers closed around my neck and shoulders, lifting me off the ground. Everything went dark. When I came to, I was disoriented and in excruciating pain. I tried to move, but my body wouldn't respond. I was paralyzed from the chest down to my waist, unable to breathe properly on my own. A wave of panic washed over me as I realized the extent of my injuries. Hange's face was etched with worry and despair as he knelt beside me. "Hey, hey, it's okay," he whispered, his voice trembling. "I've got you. You're going to be okay." But I knew I wasn't. My C1 and C2 spinal cord was snapped in half, severed by the titan's brutal attack. I was aware of the excruciating pain, but it was nothing compared to the horror that awaited me. My skull was shattered, exposing my brain, and my face was disfigured beyond recognition. Hange's eyes widened in horror as he took in the extent of my injuries. He quickly sprang into action, carefully inserting an endotracheal tube deep into my throat. The tube was connected to a ventilator, which began to breathe for me. I was helpless, unable to move or speak. As Hange worked to stabilize me, I became aware of the fragility of my existence. My diaphragm was completely weak, and if I even moved an inch, it would stop working, and my lungs would not be able to expand properly. I was extremely hypersensitive to temperature changes, my spinal cord no longer connected to my brain. The journey to the medical infirmary was a blur. My heart stopped multiple times, and Hange performed CPR on me, his hands moving with precision and urgency. I was barely hanging on to life. As soon as we arrived at the infirmary, Hange turned to the medical staff and barked orders. "Prepare everything! The patient is in critical condition. They suffer from severe spinal cord injury and severe head injury." The medical team sprang into action, and Hange immediately performed surgery on me. There was no time to waste. I was fighting for my life, and every second counted. After what felt like an eternity, the surgery was complete. I was placed in a coma, and Hange gently wrapped a warm, wet blanket around my fragile body, mimicking a mother's womb. I was trapped in a deep coma, suffering from severe locked-in syndrome. As I drifted away into the darkness, I was aware of Hange's presence, his eyes fixed on me with a deep and abiding love. I knew that he would do everything in his power to save me, to bring me back from the brink of death. But as I slipped further into the abyss, I couldn't help but wonder if I would ever awaken again.
