A Change in Plans

Part 8

Jacquie headed upstairs to her bathroom to start getting ready for the day, feeling a bit more energized after their conversation about the housewarming party and the garden. As she entered the bathroom, she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and smiled, but her smile quickly faltered as she felt a wave of nausea wash over her. She shook her head, attributing it to maybe eating something that didn't agree with her the night before. She turned on the faucet to splash some water on her face, but as she lifted her hands to cup the water, she noticed that they were shaking slightly. Jacquie tried to brush it off as fatigue, but as she looked closer at her reflection, she saw that her eyes looked a bit sunken and her skin was pale. A headache was starting to form behind her eyes, and she rubbed her temples gently, trying to massage it away. Despite feeling a bit off, Jacquie didn't think much of it, assuming it was just a side effect of the stress of moving and adjusting to a new routine. She began her morning routine, brushing her teeth and washing her face, but she couldn't shake off the feeling of being a bit under the weather. As she got dressed and made her way back downstairs, Jacquie noticed that Noah was already in the kitchen, sipping on a cup of coffee and checking his phone. "Hey, good morning," he said, looking up and noticing her pale complexion. "You okay? You look a bit peaked." Jacquie forced a smile, trying to reassure him that she was fine. "I'm just a bit tired, that's all," she said, pouring herself a cup of coffee. "I think I might have eaten something that didn't agree with me last night." Noah nodded, concern etched on his face. "Maybe you should take it easy today?" he suggested. "We can cancel the party planning for now and just focus on relaxing." Jacquie shook her head, feeling a bit frustrated that she was already feeling off. "No, no, I'm fine," she said, trying to sound convincing. "I just need to get some fresh air and I'll be good as new." Noah looked skeptical, but he didn't push the issue, instead letting it drop and focusing on their plans for the day. Jacquie tried to shake off her doubts and focus on the positives, but as she sipped her coffee, she couldn't help but feel that something was off.
