**The Cracks Begin to Show**

Part 40

The streets seemed to blur around him as Kageyama's gaze remained fixed on the figure, his mind racing with questions. Who was it? What did it want? And why did he feel like he was staring into the face of his own destiny? Oikawa's grip on his hand tightened, a gentle reminder that he was there, that he cared. But Kageyama couldn't shake the feeling that he was slipping away, that the darkness closing in around him was going to consume him whole. As they stood there, frozen in time, Kageyama's thoughts began to unravel. He thought he saw something move out of the corner of his eye, a flicker of movement that seemed to vanish into thin air. "Hey, Kageyama?" Oikawa's voice was low and soothing, a gentle anchor in the midst of the storm brewing inside him. "You okay? You're starting to scare me." Kageyama blinked, his gaze still fixed on the figure in the distance. He felt like he was drowning in a sea of uncertainty, like the ground beneath him was shifting and he was losing his footing. "I...I don't know," he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper. "I just feel like something's off. Like, really off." Oikawa's eyes narrowed, his expression concerned. "What do you mean?" Kageyama hesitated, his mind racing with thoughts and emotions. He felt like he was losing his grip on reality, like the world around him was spinning out of control. "Nothing," he muttered, shaking his head. "Just...just forget it, okay?" But Oikawa wasn't buying it. He could see the tension in Kageyama's shoulders, the way his eyes kept darting back to the figure in the distance. "Kageyama, you're scaring me," he said, his voice soft with worry. "What's going on?" Kageyama's thoughts swirled, a jumbled mess of emotions and fears. He felt like he was on the verge of losing his mind, like the world around him was crumbling into dust. As they stood there, frozen in time, Kageyama's words began to spill out in a jumbled, incoherent mess. "I saw it...I saw it again...the thing...the thing in the shadows..." Oikawa's expression softened, his eyes filled with concern. "Kageyama, what are you talking about?" But Kageyama just shook his head, his mind racing with thoughts. "No...no, nothing...just...just forget it, okay?" The words tumbled out of his mouth like a confession, but he couldn't bring himself to stop. He felt like he was losing his grip on reality, like the world around him was spinning out of control. As they walked away from the figure, Kageyama's thoughts began to unravel further. He mentioned something about a "crowded room" and then trailed off, lost in thought. Oikawa's eyes widened in confusion, and he reached out to grab Kageyama's arm. "Kageyama, what are you talking about?" he asked, his voice laced with concern. Kageyama hesitated, unsure of how to respond. He felt like he was losing his mind, like the world around him was crumbling into dust. And then, just as they were turning a corner, he said something that made Oikawa's eyes widen in shock. "I...I think I saw him before...in the hospital...with Hinata..." The words tumbled out of his mouth like a confession, and Oikawa's expression changed from concern to confusion. "Who did you see?" he asked, his voice gentle. But Kageyama just shook his head, his mind racing with thoughts. "Nothing...just...just forget it, okay?" he muttered, his eyes scanning the crowd as if searching for an escape. As they walked, the buildings seemed to loom over them, casting long, ominous shadows on the ground. Kageyama felt like he was trapped in a nightmare, with no escape from the darkness that seemed to be closing in. And then, just as they were approaching their apartment building, he said something that made Oikawa's eyes widen in shock. "I...I think we're being followed." The words tumbled out of his mouth like a confession, and Oikawa's expression changed from concern to alarm. "What are you talking about, Kageyama?" he asked, his voice low and urgent. But Kageyama just shook his head, unsure of what to say. He felt like he was losing his grip on reality, like the world around him was spinning out of control.
