"Change in Sight"

Part 1

Sangwoo was walking down the London street at night at a slow pace with his arm being grabbed by his mom. His mom took him on this trip to London as a goodbye gift since he had decided to move out. He observed his surroundings with his soulless gaze while his mother rambled on about who knows what. Nothing looked interesting to Sangwoo, it's not like anything ever had. The streets were filled with people, but he didn't notice them. His eyes were empty, his heart was empty, and his soul was empty. He was just going through the motions. As they turned a corner, his mom pointed to a diner across the street. "Let's grab some dinner, sweetie. You must be starving." Sangwoo nodded mechanically, not really caring about food. His mom took him to the diner, and they sat down at a booth. Sangwoo's eyes wandered around the diner, still not taking in anything. That was until his eyes were drawn to an electric bus stop billboard outside, just across the street. The billboard displayed a promotion to something for about a minute before switching to an alternative one, and then after another minute to a third image, and finally back to the first again. Usually, these types of things didn't interest Sangwoo, but this time was different. The billboard showed a promotion to a new Netflix show called Insiders2, the image showed a bunch of different people. One of these people is what caught Sangwoo's eye. He stopped walking, causing his mother to stumble forward. She looked over at him, confused, only to see him staring at the billboard. Still confused, she looked at the billboard, only to see that it had changed the instant she had walked over. The billboard now showed a group shot of the cast, and Sangwoo's eyes scanned the image quickly. His eyes landed on one person, and he couldn't look away. A young Asian man with short, fluffy bleach-dyed hair and bright brown eyes was smiling at the camera. Sangwoo's heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, he felt... something. It was a strange sensation, one he had never experienced before. His mom asked him what's wrong, but he didn't respond. He just stared at the billboard for a couple of minutes, his eyes fixed on the young man's face. Eventually, the Netflix promotion popped up again, and Sangwoo instantly took out his phone and snapped a picture of the promotion, and then one again at the young man. His mom saw something different in his eyes that she'd never seen before - a glimmer of emotion. Sangwoo's mom looked concerned, "Sangwoo, sweetie, what's going on? You look like you've seen a ghost." Sangwoo didn't respond. He was too busy taking in the image of the young man. He felt a need to know who he was, where he was, and how he could get to him. The billboard changed again, and Sangwoo began to walk again with his mother to the diner they were planning to go to. But his mind was no longer on the diner or his mom. It was on the young man with the bleach-dyed hair and bright smile. He knew he needed the boy to be his, and nothing would stop him. As they sat down at their booth, Sangwoo's mom tried to make small talk, but Sangwoo just nodded and grunted, his mind elsewhere. He was already planning his next move, trying to figure out how to find the young man. His life was about to change in ways he couldn't even imagine. The young man on the billboard had awakened something in Sangwoo, something he thought was dead. And now, Sangwoo was hungry for more. He was hungry for the young man's smile, his laughter, and his presence. He was willing to do whatever it took to make that happen.
