"Ridin' Shotgun with My Right Hand"

Part 1

The sun was setting over the streets of South Central, casting a golden glow over the block. Alyssa "Lyssa" De La Cruz, a stunning Dominican RN with long, dark hair and piercing brown eyes, was ridin' shotgun in Oscar "Spooky" Diaz's beat-up old Impala. Lyssa had been Spooky's ride or die since they met in middle school, and everybody on the block knew not to mess with her or they'd have to answer to Spooky. As they cruised down the street, Lyssa was sippin' on a Slurpee and blastin' some old-school hip hop on the stereo. Spooky was behind the wheel, his signature gold chain glintin' in the fading light. He was puffin' on a blunt, and Lyssa was gettin' her own vibe on, singin' along to the lyrics. They were headed to Cesar's house, where the whole crew would be gatherin' for a impromptu BBQ. Lyssa loved Cesar like he was her own kid, and she always made sure to bring some of her famous Dominican cookin' to share with the group. As they pulled up to the house, Lyssa could see Monse, Cesar's girl, was already set up in the backyard, grillin' up some burgers and hot dogs. Spooky pulled up, and Lyssa hopped out, stretchin' her curves in a tight white tank top and some distressed denim shorts. She was the epitome of hood chic, and Spooky couldn't help but feel a surge of pride seein' her walk towards the backyard. "Hey, prima!" Monse exclaimed, givin' Lyssa a big hug. "What's good?" "Not much, M'ija," Lyssa replied, wavin' at the rest of the crew. "Just bringin' some arroz con pollo to share." Cesar, Jabari, and Omar were hangin' out by the grill, shootin' the breeze and crackin' jokes. Lyssa made her way over, and they all gave her a big ol' hug. "Alyssa, what's good?" Cesar asked, wavin' a spatula in her direction. "Just chillin', Ces," Lyssa replied, wavin' him off. "You know, same old, same old. Workin' hard, takin' care of my Spooky." Spooky, who'd been quiet till now, spoke up, "Yeah, and takin' care of the rest of us, too." Lyssa shot him a look, and he just grinned, knowin' he was busted. As they all sat down to eat, Lyssa couldn't help but feel grateful for this little crew of misfits. They'd been through thick and thin together, and she loved 'em all like family. Just then, Jabari started tellin' some wild story, and the whole crew erupted into laughter. Lyssa was gigglin' so hard she was cryin', and Spooky was sittin' back, watchin' her with a look of pure adoration on his face. This was their life, and Lyssa wouldn't trade it for nothin' in the world. What happens next?
