Whispers of a New Beginning
Part 2
As the Hogwarts Express chugged along the winding tracks, Evelyn's thoughts continued to drift towards George Weasley. She couldn't help but notice the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled, or the way his hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck. It was as if she was seeing him for the first time, and yet, she had known him for years. Just as she was getting lost in her daydreams, the train's compartment door slid open and Harry Potter poked his head in. "Mind if I join you?" he asked, his eyes scanning the seats. Evelyn shook her head, and Harry slipped into the empty seat beside her. George, who had been engrossed in a game of Exploding Snap with Ron, looked up and grinned. "What's the plan, Harry?" he asked, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "I was thinking we could try to get some work done on the Hogwarts project," Harry said, pulling out a stack of notes and textbooks. "Professor McGonagall wants us to have a solid proposal ready by the end of the month." Ron groaned, but George and Evelyn exchanged a look, and she could sense a spark of excitement in the air. This was what she loved about her friends - the sense of adventure, the thrill of the unknown, and the willingness to take risks. As they settled in to work, Barty Crouch Jr. reappeared, this time with a tray of steaming hot treacle fudge and a knowing smile. "I thought you young folks might appreciate a little pick-me-up," he said, distributing the treats. Evelyn took a bite of the fudge, and the rich, buttery flavor melted in her mouth. She closed her eyes, savoring the taste, and when she opened them again, George was watching her, his eyes locked on hers. The moment hung in the air, like a challenge, and Evelyn felt her heart skip a beat. She looked away, trying to compose herself, but she could sense George's gaze still on her. As the train rumbled on, the group worked and chatted, their laughter and conversation filling the compartment. But Evelyn couldn't shake the feeling that something was shifting, that the dynamics of their little group were about to change in ways she couldn't yet imagine. The sun was beginning to set, casting a golden glow over the rolling hills and fields outside the train window. Evelyn gazed out at the breathtaking view, feeling a sense of wonder and excitement building inside her. This year, anything seemed possible, and she couldn't wait to see what lay ahead. Just then, the train slowed to a stop at Hogsmeade Station, and the compartment door slid open once more. "Looks like we're here," Harry said, gathering his things. "Shall we?" As they filed out of the compartment, Evelyn caught George's eye, and for a moment, they just looked at each other. The air was charged with a newfound sense of possibility, and Evelyn couldn't help but wonder what the future held for them, both in and out of the classroom.
