"Warmth in the Shadows"

As they walked back to Kai's dorm, the cool evening air seemed to carry a hint of tension between them. Kai couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over him, thankful that he had managed to extricate Ray from the crowded room without raising too many eyebrows. He was still replaying the moment in his head, his arm wrapped around Ray's waist, holding him close. It had been a possessive gesture, one that he didn't usually indulge in, but he couldn't bring himself to regret it. Ray, on the other hand, seemed subdued, his usual warmth and energy dampened by the chill that still lingered within him. Kai could feel it, a subtle coolness that seemed to emanate from Ray's very being. He reached out, his hand brushing against Ray's, a gentle gesture of comfort. As they entered Kai's dorm, he nodded towards the bathroom. "I'm going to draw a hot bath," he said, his voice low and soothing. "It'll help you relax." Ray's eyes lit up, a spark of excitement igniting within them. "A bath?" he repeated, his voice tinged with curiosity. Kai smiled, a gentle smile. "Yes, a bath. Come and see." Ray followed Kai into the bathroom, his eyes widening as he took in the sight of the large tub, filled with steaming hot water and a generous helping of bubble bath. The air was filled with the sweet scent of lavender, a calming aroma that seemed to envelop them both. "Wow," Ray breathed, his eyes shining with delight. "That looks amazing." Kai chuckled, a low, husky sound. "I'm glad you like it," he said, his eyes never leaving Ray's face. "Why don't you strip and get in? I'll join you in a minute." Ray nodded, his movements quick and eager. He slipped out of his clothes, his body pale and vulnerable in the bright light of the bathroom. Kai's eyes lingered on him, a warmth spreading through his chest. As Ray climbed into the bath, Kai couldn't help but follow, his body sinking into the warm water with a sigh of relief. Ray moved closer, his body aligning with Kai's, his head coming to rest on Kai's chest. Kai's hands moved of their own accord, gently playing with Ray's hair, the strands slippery and smooth beneath his fingers. Ray closed his eyes, a soft sigh escaping his lips as he relaxed into Kai's touch. As they floated there, surrounded by the warm, soothing water, Kai felt Ray's body begin to relax, the chill that had been plaguing him beginning to dissipate. Ray cuddled closer, his face nuzzling into Kai's chest, his breathing slow and even. Kai's hands continued to play with Ray's hair, a gentle, soothing motion that seemed to lull them both into a state of deep relaxation. The world outside receded, leaving only the two of them, lost in the warmth and comfort of the bubble bath.
