"A Moment of Tender Affection"

Part 34

Vanitas slipped into the bathroom, the warm steam enveloping him as he gazed at Shizuo's relaxed form. Shizuo's eyes fluttered open, and he looked up at Vanitas warily, but didn't move away as Vanitas stepped into the bath. The water rippled as Vanitas settled in behind Shizuo, wrapping his arms around Shizuo's waist. Shizuo's tension eased as Vanitas held him gently, his touch soothing. "Before we go back to your world," Vanitas whispered, his breath tickling Shizuo's ear, "can I please take you somewhere nice?" He kissed Shizuo's neck softly, sending shivers down Shizuo's spine. "I'm going to miss you, Shizuo." Shizuo's eyes widened in shock as he turned to face Vanitas. No one had ever said anything so sweet to him before. He searched Vanitas's face, looking for any sign of mockery, but all he saw was sincerity. "Yes, Vanitas," Shizuo said, his voice barely above a whisper, looking up at Vanitas with vulnerable eyes. Vanitas's expression softened, and he kissed Shizuo gently, his lips brushing against Shizuo's. "I'll make it special, I promise," he said, his voice filled with affection. They sat in silence for a moment, enjoying the warmth of the bath and each other's company. Eventually, they got out of the bath, and Vanitas handed Shizuo a towel. Shizuo dried himself off, feeling a little shy but also happy. Vanitas got dressed, and Shizuo followed suit, still feeling a bit dazed from the tender moment they shared. As they walked through the lush forest, Shizuo couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder. The trees towered above them, and the sound of birdsong filled the air. Vanitas took his hand, and Shizuo didn't pull away, feeling a sense of comfort in Vanitas's touch. After a while, they arrived at a clearing, and Shizuo gasped in amazement. A beautiful waterfall cascaded down a rocky slope, and in the air above it, fairy-made fireworks danced and swirled. The words "I love you, Shizuo" spelled out in glittering letters, and Shizuo's heart skipped a beat. "Vanitas, it's beautiful," Shizuo breathed, his eyes fixed on the fireworks. Vanitas smiled, his eyes shining with affection. "I'm glad you like it," he said, pulling Shizuo close. "I wanted to make it special for you. You deserve it, Shizuo." Shizuo looked up at Vanitas, feeling a mix of emotions. He didn't know how to process Vanitas's sudden display of affection. "Thank you, Vanitas," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. Vanitas kissed his forehead, and they stood there, watching the fireworks together. The fairies flitted about, adding more sparks to the display, and Shizuo felt a sense of happiness wash over him. For a moment, he forgot about his desire to return to his own world and simply enjoyed the beauty of the moment.
