Fading Light

Part 5

As the evening sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow over the hospital room, Harry and Lloyd struggled with their deteriorating physical conditions. Harry's weakness had worsened, making it difficult for him to lift his arms or even hold his head up. He lay in bed, his eyes sunken, and his skin pale. Lloyd, on the other hand, was experiencing blurred vision. He squinted, trying to focus on the book lying on his lap, but the words seemed to swim before his eyes. He rubbed his eyes, hoping to clear the haze, but it only seemed to get worse. He looked over at Harry, who was staring blankly ahead, and felt a surge of concern. The nurse came in to check on them, and Lloyd tried to speak, but his words were slurred. "N-nurse...I...can't see..." The nurse's expression turned worried as she quickly grabbed a pair of glasses from her pocket and handed them to Lloyd. "Here, try these," she said. Lloyd put on the glasses, and his vision began to clear, but only slightly. She then turned to Harry and took his pulse, her brow furrowed in concern. "Harry, can you tell me how you're feeling?" she asked. Harry's response was weak and barely audible. "T-tired...so tired..." The nurse nodded sympathetically and administered some medication to help with his fatigue. As she left the room, Lloyd turned to Harry, his voice shaking. "Man, I don't like this. We're not getting better." Harry's eyes fluttered closed, and he didn't respond. Lloyd's anxiety spiked, and he reached out to grab Harry's hand. "Hey, man, stay with me. Don't go anywhere." As the evening wore on, the hospital room grew darker, the only sound the beeping of the machines and the occasional murmur of the nurses outside. Lloyd's blurred vision made it difficult for him to focus, but he refused to let go of Harry's hand. Suddenly, Harry's eyes snapped open, and he looked at Lloyd with a hint of fear. "Lloyd...what's happening to us?" he whispered. Lloyd's response was strained, his voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know, man. But I'm here for you. We'll get through this together." As the darkness deepened, Lloyd's vision began to blur again, and he felt himself drifting away. He squeezed Harry's hand, trying to stay awake, but his eyelids grew heavy, and he succumbed to the darkness.
