**Chapter 1: A Sudden Display of Affection**

Part 1

I sat at the dinner table, staring blankly at the meatloaf in front of me. My parents, Euphemia and Fleamont Potter, were chatting away, discussing their day, while my brother James was being his usual teasing self. I pushed the meatloaf around my plate, not really feeling like eating it. "You hardly touched your food, Euphemia said, concern etched on her face."You look up at your mother with a frown. "I'm not hungry for meatloaf," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant. Euphemia raised an eyebrow. "Well, it is leftover night, we have Steak, Pasta, what are you hungry for?" she asked, trying to coax me into eating. James, who had been quietly observing the exchange, suddenly smirked. "Remus Lupin, you're not hungry because you're still full from eating that disgusting treacle fudge from the sweets shop in Hogsmeade?" he teased. My face grew hot as I shot James a glare. "Shut up!" I yelled, feeling my cheeks burn with embarrassment. Euphemia intervened, her voice firm but gentle. "That's enough for you too, James." But James wasn't one to back down. "Well, she is if you like him so much, maybe you should kiss him," he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief. I felt my face grow even hotter as I glared at James. "I said shut up, you little insect!" I yelled back. Euphemia's voice rose, authoritative. "I said enough!" The room fell silent, with only the sound of my parents' concerned murmurs breaking the stillness. But then James said something that made my heart skip a beat. "Well, if you like him so much, maybe you should kiss him, James argued." I was shocked, my face turning bright red. I had never kissed a girl before, and the thought of it made me feel nervous and excited at the same time. But before I could react, I did something that shocked even myself. I got up from my seat, walked over to James, and sat on his lap. I looked into his eyes, my heart pounding in my chest, and kissed his lips deeply. The room around us melted away, and all I could feel was James' soft lips and the warmth of his body. It was like time had stood still, and all that mattered was this moment, right here, right now. As I pulled back from the kiss, gasping for air, I saw the shock and surprise on James' face. My parents were staring at us, their mouths agape, while James' eyes seemed to hold a mixture of confusion and curiosity. And that's when everything went back to normal, or so I thought. Little did I know, that kiss would change everything.
