New Faces and Old Flames
Part 2
The next morning, Pam arrived at the hospital, feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. As she made her way to the ER, she caught a glimpse of Dr. Covac standing at the nurses' station, reviewing a patient's chart. She smiled to herself, feeling a spark of attraction that she couldn't ignore. She had been thinking about him all night, wondering what it would be like to work with him up close. As she approached her desk, Pam noticed a new patient had been admitted, a young woman with a severe burn on her arm. Dr. Covac looked up and caught her eye, nodding in her direction. "Pam, can you help me get this patient stabilized?" he asked, his deep voice sending a shiver down her spine. Pam nodded and quickly got to work, coordinating with the nurses to get the patient into a treatment room. As they worked, Pam couldn't help but notice the way Dr. Covac's eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled, or the way his dark hair curled slightly at the nape of his neck. She felt a flutter in her chest and quickly looked away, focusing on the task at hand. As they worked together, Pam was impressed by Dr. Covac's skill and compassion. He was easy to work with, and his calm demeanor was a balm to the anxious patient. Pam found herself feeling drawn to him, not just physically, but also on a professional level. Just then, Dr. Greene approached them, his expression serious. "Luka, we've got a situation developing with one of our trauma patients. Can you take a look?" Dr. Covac nodded and followed Dr. Greene to the trauma bay. Pam watched them go, feeling a sense of admiration for the new doctor. She was eager to see more of him in action. As the day wore on, Pam found herself glancing over at Dr. Covac, watching as he worked with his patients and colleagues. She noticed that Dr. Carter and Dr. Ross seemed to be keeping a close eye on him, and she wondered what their story was. At one point, Dr. Ross strolled over to her desk, a mischievous glint in his eye. "So, Pam, what do you think of our new colleague?" he asked, nodding towards Dr. Covac. Pam raised an eyebrow, playing it cool. "He seems very capable," she said, trying to sound nonchalant. Dr. Ross chuckled. "Capable? That's all? You're not even giving him a chance, Pam. He's got a certain... je ne sais quoi." Pam rolled her eyes good-naturedly. "I'm sure he does, Doug. But I'm trying to focus on my work right now." Dr. Ross grinned. "Okay, okay. But don't say I didn't warn you. Luka Covac is a force to be reckoned with." Pam smiled to herself, wondering what Dr. Ross meant by that. As she watched, Dr. Covac emerged from the trauma bay, his face set in a determined expression. He caught her eye and nodded, and Pam felt a jolt of electricity run through her body. She was in trouble. She could feel it.
