"Crossing Boundaries"

Part 3

The dim lighting of the bar seemed to amplify the tension between them as Lila sidled up beside Jace, her eyes sparkling with a mischievous glint. The music pulsed softly in the background, a gentle hum that seemed to vibrate through every cell in his body. He turned to her, his expression neutral, as she smiled up at him. "You seem to be having a good time," he said, his voice low and even. Lila's laughter was husky, a throaty sound that sent a shiver down his spine. "I am," she replied, her eyes locked on his. "But I think I could have an even better time if I had some company." Jace raised an eyebrow, his gaze never leaving hers. "Oh?" he said, his tone noncommittal. Lila nodded, her hair swaying gently as she moved closer to him. "Yeah," she whispered, her breath tickling his ear. "I think we could have a lot of fun together, Jace." He felt a spark of attraction, a flicker of interest that he quickly suppressed. He wasn't interested in Lila, not really. But as he looked into her eyes, he saw something there that gave him pause. A challenge, maybe. A dare. "Do you flirt with every guy like this?" he asked, his voice low and even. Lila's smile faltered for a moment, before she recovered with a laugh. "If you think I'm that bad, maybe you should tell your friend that," she said, her voice dripping with suggestion. Jace's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing. "I'm not my friend's boyfriend," he said, his voice cool. Lila's eyes sparkled with amusement. "No, but you might as well be," she said, her voice husky. "The way you look at him, the way you watch him... it's like you're waiting for him to make a mistake." Jace felt a surge of irritation, a flash of anger that he quickly suppressed. Who was this woman, and what did she know about him? "I don't think that's any of your business," he said, his voice even. Lila shrugged, her eyes never leaving his. "Maybe not," she said. "But I think you're interested in me, Jace. And I think you're wondering what it would be like to be with me." The air seemed to vibrate with tension as they stood there, the music pulsing softly in the background. Jace felt a spark of attraction, a flicker of interest that he couldn't quite ignore. "And what makes you think that?" he asked, his voice low and even. Lila's smile was slow, a sultry curve of her lips. "I can see it in your eyes," she said, her voice husky. "You're drawn to me, Jace. And I think you want to know what it's like to be with me." The silence between them was palpable, a living, breathing thing that seemed to pulse with energy. Jace felt a shiver run down his spine as he met Lila's gaze, his eyes locked on hers in a silent understanding. The question was, what would he do about it?
