The New Life

Part 4

Religious sat on the plush couch in the grand living room of King's mansion, surrounded by opulent decorations and lavish furnishings. The warm glow of the chandelier above cast a golden light on her face, and the soft hum of the air conditioner provided a gentle background noise. It had been a few days since she had accepted King's proposal, and she was still trying to adjust to her new life. The events that had led her to this moment seemed like a distant memory now - the pain of finding her husband, Victor, and best friend, Sally, in bed together, the desperation that had driven her to accept King's proposal. As she sipped her coffee, she heard a noise behind her. She turned to see King walking towards her, a look of concern on his face. His piercing blue eyes seemed to bore into her soul, and his chiseled features were a testament to his wealth and power. "Good morning, Religious," he said, his voice low and soothing. "I hope you're doing well. You look a bit lost today." Religious smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards King. He had been kind to her, and she was starting to feel more at ease in her new surroundings. She gestured to the coffee cup in her hand, and King sat down beside her, taking a sip of his own coffee. "I'm just a bit overwhelmed, I think," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "Everything is so new and different." King nodded, his eyes understanding. "I know it can be a bit much to take in," he said. "But you're doing great. You're adjusting well to your new life here." Just then, the doorbell rang. King got up to answer it, and Religious heard the sound of voices in the hallway. She wondered who it was, and what they wanted. The door to the living room opened, and a woman walked in. She was tall and slender, with long blonde hair and piercing green eyes. Her gaze was cold and calculating, and Religious felt a shiver run down her spine. "Victoria, what are you doing here?" King asked, his voice firm. Victoria smiled, her eyes flashing with anger. "I just wanted to drop by and meet the new wife," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I've heard so much about her." Religious felt a sense of unease as Victoria's eyes landed on her. There was something about the woman that didn't seem right. Her presence seemed to fill the room with tension, and Religious could sense the animosity between her and King. "Victoria, this is Religious," King said, his voice cool. "My new wife." Victoria's eyes narrowed, and she walked towards Religious. "It's nice to meet you, Religious," she said, her voice cold. "I've heard you're quite the catch." Religious felt a surge of anger at Victoria's tone, but she kept her cool. She wasn't going to let Victoria get to her. King seemed to sense the tension, and he stepped in, his arm around Religious's shoulders. "Victoria, I think it's time for you to leave," he said, his voice firm. Victoria's face fell, and she turned to leave. But not before she shot Religious a look of pure hatred. "This isn't over," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Religious felt a shiver run down her spine as Victoria left the room. She turned to King, who was watching her with a concerned expression. "Who is she?" Religious asked, her voice barely above a whisper. King's face darkened, and he sat down beside her. "She's my ex-wife," he said. "We had a bit of a messy divorce. She's not a very nice person." Religious nodded, feeling a sense of unease. She had a feeling that Victoria was going to be a problem. But she was determined to make her new life work, no matter what challenges came her way. As King took her hand, Religious felt a sense of comfort and security. She knew that she had made the right decision in marrying him, and she was determined to make their marriage work. Little did she know, however, that her life was about to get a lot more complicated. Victoria's parting words had been a threat, and Religious couldn't shake off the feeling that she was in grave danger.
