Chapter 86: A Morning of Uncertainty
Part 85
The morning sun peeked through the blinds, casting a warm glow over the chaotic scene unfolding in the bedroom. Noah and Jacquie slowly opened their eyes, groggily adjusting to the new day. Their one-year-old, Ava, was already up and crying, her tiny voice piercing through the air. Upstairs, their six-year-old, Mya, was calling out for breakfast, while Ellie, their lively three-year-old, was dancing around her room, singing a happy tune. As Noah and Jacquie quickly got dressed, Jacquie's eyes met Noah's, and he could sense her nervous energy. Today was the day of their anatomy scan, where they would finally find out the gender of their baby. Noah smiled reassuringly, trying to calm her nerves. In the kitchen, Mya was sitting at the table, her eyes fixed on Noah as he entered. "Daddy, I'm hungry!" she exclaimed. Noah smiled and began making breakfast, while Jacquie tended to Ava, who was getting more agitated by the minute. As they finished breakfast, Noah ushered the kids into the 7-seater family car, with Jacquie following closely behind. The drive to the doctor's office was short, but Jacquie's anxiety seemed to grow with each passing minute. She looked paler than usual, her eyes fixed on the road ahead. Noah reached out and took her hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Hey, it's going to be okay," he said. "We're in this together." Jacquie smiled weakly, but her eyes betrayed her concern. As they arrived at the doctor's office, Noah could sense her trepidation. What if something was wrong with the baby? What if...? The doctor's office was bustling with activity, but Noah and Jacquie were quickly ushered into a private room. The technician smiled warmly as she began the scan, explaining each step of the process. As they waited for the results, Noah's heart was racing with anticipation. He had a feeling that their lives were about to change in ways they couldn't even imagine. The doctor entered the room, a warm smile on her face. "Well, congratulations, you two," she said. "We've got some exciting news." Noah's eyes met Jacquie's, and he could sense her fear. What was going on? The doctor continued, "We've found not one, not two, but three babies. And they're all girls!" Noah's jaw dropped in shock, while Jacquie's eyes went wide with terror. Three babies? All girls? The news was both exhilarating and overwhelming, and for a moment, they just stared at each other, unsure of what to say or do next.
