A New Beginning in Purple
Part 40
The next morning, Victoria was up early, busily preparing breakfast in the kitchen. As she cracked eggs into a bowl, she couldn't help but think about the events of the previous night. Her gaze drifted to the spare bedroom, where Myra and Doc were still sleeping. She smiled, remembering the way Myra had snuggled into Doc's arms. As she continued with the cooking, Victoria's thoughts turned to the purple V-neck dress that had been hanging in her closet. It was the same dress she had worn the night her throat was slit, and the memories of that gruesome event still lingered. She had often thought about getting rid of the dress, but something had always held her back. Victoria decided that today was the day she would let go of those memories. She carefully took the dress out of her closet and made her way to the spare bedroom. She knocked softly on the door, and when Myra responded with a sleepy "come in," Victoria entered with the dress. "Hey, I wanted to give you something," Victoria said, holding out the purple V-neck dress. Myra's eyes widened as she took in the sight of the dress. "Oh, Victoria, it's beautiful," Myra said, her voice filled with excitement. "But you don't have to give me your clothes." Victoria smiled and waved her hand dismissively. "I want you to have it. But before you put it on, I have to warn you – this dress holds some bad memories for me. I wore it the night...well, you know." Myra's expression turned serious, and she nodded. "I understand. But I want to take those memories away from you. You deserve to move on." Victoria smiled, touched by Myra's words. "I think you should try it on. It would make me feel better." Myra took the dress and made her way to the bathroom. Doc, who had been sleeping fitfully, stirred and opened his eyes. He watched as Myra disappeared into the bathroom, the dress held tightly in her hands. A few minutes later, the bathroom door opened, and Myra stood before them, wearing the purple V-neck dress. Doc's eyes widened, and he felt a flush rise to his cheeks. Myra had never worn anything with a neckline that low before, and he couldn't help but stare. "Hey, no funny ideas, bro," Myra said, looking at Doc with a mischievous glint in her eye. Doc's face grew even hotter as he quickly looked away, trying to compose himself. But before he could recover, Myra snapped her fingers in front of his face. "Earth to bro, are you there?" she teased, laughing. Doc playfully rolled his eyes, trying to hide his embarrassment. "Yeah, I'm here. You just...look really good in that dress, okay?" Myra grinned, seeming to enjoy Doc's reaction. "Thanks, I think." As they made their way to the kitchen for breakfast, Victoria couldn't help but notice the way Doc was looking at Myra. She smiled, feeling a sense of satisfaction. The dynamic between Doc and Myra was still strong, and it seemed that their friendship could withstand even the most awkward moments. As they sat down to eat, James raised an eyebrow, taking in Myra's new outfit. "Wow, Myra, you're certainly making a statement today," he said, his voice filled with amusement. Myra laughed, and Doc shot her a mock-angry look. "Hey, don't encourage her," he joked. The morning was filled with laughter and easy banter, and for a moment, it seemed like they could all forget about the dangers that lurked outside their little haven. But as they sat around the table, enjoying their breakfast, Victoria couldn't shake the feeling that their peaceful existence was fragile, and that the world outside was waiting to intrude.
