A Desperate Kiss
Part 6
Nick sat beside Sabrina's hospital bed, his eyes fixed on her pale face as the machines beeping around her seemed to grow louder and more insistent. It had been days since she slipped into a coma, and the doctors had given him little hope of her recovery. He had been by her side every step of the way, holding her hand and willing her to wake up, but so far, there had been no response. As he looked at Sabrina's still form, Nick felt a wave of desperation wash over him. He had never felt so helpless in his life. He had always been the strong one, the one who took charge and fixed things, but now he was at a loss. He didn't know what to do or how to make things better. In a moment of desperation, Nick leaned forward and gently pressed his lips to Sabrina's. It was a soft, gentle kiss, but it felt like an eternity to him. He closed his eyes, feeling a lump form in his throat as he whispered, "I love you, Sabrina. Please come back to me." As his lips touched hers, Nick felt a spark of hope. It was a long shot, but he had to try. He didn't care if it was a silly gesture or not; he just wanted to hold onto the hope that Sabrina might wake up. And then, something miraculous happened. Sabrina's eyes flickered open, and she took a shallow breath. Nick's eyes snapped open, and he stared at her in shock. "Sabrina?" he whispered, his voice trembling with hope. Sabrina's eyes focused on Nick's face, and a faint smile played on her lips. "Nick?" she whispered, her voice barely audible. Tears of joy streamed down Nick's face as he smiled back at her. "I'm here, Sabrina. I've been here the whole time." Sabrina's eyes fluttered closed, and she took another deep breath. Nick's heart skipped a beat as he thought she was going to slip away again, but then her eyes opened again, and she looked at him with a hint of recognition. The machines beeping around her began to beep faster, and the nurse rushed into the room. "What's happening?" she asked, her eyes scanning the monitors. Nick's voice was shaking as he replied, "She was asleep, and I kissed her, and she woke up." The nurse smiled and nodded. "Well, I suppose that's one way to bring someone back. Let's get her stabilized and see if we can't get her on the road to recovery." As the nurse and the doctor worked to stabilize Sabrina, Nick sat beside her, holding her hand and smiling at her. He couldn't believe that his desperate kiss had worked. He had taken a chance, and it had paid off. Sabrina's eyes locked onto Nick's, and she whispered, "I love you." Nick's heart swelled with emotion as he replied, "I love you too, Sabrina. Welcome back."
