Chapter 7: Morning Bliss
Part 6
The warm sunlight streaming through the window highlighted the peaceful scene before him. Nick lay on his back, his chest rising and falling with each gentle breath, while Maya snuggled into his side, her head resting on his shoulder. Her soft curls brushed against his chin, and he couldn't help but smile as he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. As they lay there, Nick couldn't help but think about how right it felt to have Maya by his side. He had never felt this way about anyone before, and it both thrilled and terrified him. He knew that he had to make this relationship work, no matter what. Maya stirred, her eyelids fluttering open as she gazed up at Nick. "Good morning," she whispered, her voice husky from sleep. Nick's lips curved into a gentle smile. "Good morning," he replied, his voice low and soothing. They lay there for a moment, simply enjoying each other's company. Nick's fingers drifted through Maya's hair, sending shivers down her spine. She snuggled closer, her body molding to his. Just as they were drifting off into a peaceful morning reverie, a knock at the door broke the silence. Nick and Maya exchanged a glance, and then Nick called out, "Come in!" The door swung open, and Sabrina walked in, a bright smile on her face. "Good morning, you two," she chirped, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "I see you're still alive." Nick chuckled, pulling Maya closer. "Barely," he joked. Sabrina laughed. "I'll take that as a sign that I won't have to plan a funeral for you two anytime soon." Maya giggled, burying her face into Nick's chest. "Sabrina, you're such a goofball," she said, her voice muffled. Sabrina plopped down on the bed beside them, bouncing on the mattress like a rubber ball. "So, how was it?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Nick and Maya exchanged a glance, and then Nick spoke up. "It was perfect," he said, his voice low and husky. Sabrina grinned. "I'm glad to hear that. I was starting to think I was going to have to stage an intervention to get you two lovebirds together." Maya playfully rolled her eyes. "We would have gotten there eventually," she said. Sabrina snorted. "Yeah, right. Like, after you've both had a nervous breakdown or something." Nick chuckled, pulling Maya closer. "Thanks for the vote of confidence, Sabrina," he said. Sabrina smiled, her eyes shining with happiness. "I'm just glad to see you two happy. You deserve it." As they lay there, wrapped in each other's arms, Nick and Maya exchanged a glance, and he knew that this was just the beginning of their journey together. Sabrina hopped off the bed, a mischiveous glint in her eye. "I'm going to go make some breakfast. You two can stay in bed and play lovebirds all day." Nick and Maya laughed, and then Sabrina was gone, leaving them to bask in the glow of their newfound relationship. Nick wrapped his arms around Maya, holding her close. "I'm glad we're doing this," he whispered. Maya smiled, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "Me too," she said.
