"Claimed by the Fire Within"

Part 9

The courtyard was empty and silent, the only sound the distant chirping of crickets and the soft rustling of leaves in the trees. Kenzy stood there, frozen in thought, as she watched Levi's retreating back. His words still lingered in the air, a reminder of the possessive tone he had used when claiming her as his own. She couldn't help but wonder what had driven him to say such things, and what exactly he meant by them. As she stood there, trying to make sense of her emotions, Kenzy couldn't shake the feeling that Levi's words had left her with. It was as if he had awakened a part of her that she didn't even know existed. The way he looked at her, the way he spoke, it all seemed so...intimate. She felt like she was drowning in a sea of uncertainty, unsure of what the future held or what Levi's intentions were. Her mind was racing with thoughts, trying to make sense of what had just transpired. She had always thought of herself as a strong, independent person, but when Levi looked at her like that, she felt like she was melting into his gaze. It was both exhilarating and terrifying. As she stood there, lost in thought, Kenzy heard the sound of footsteps approaching. She turned to see Erwin walking towards her, a concerned look on his face. "Hey, Kenzy, what's wrong?" he asked, noticing the distant look in her eyes. She hesitated, unsure of how to respond. Did she tell him about Levi's words, about the way he made her feel? Or did she keep it to herself, and try to navigate these new emotions on her own? "Nothing," she said finally, trying to brush off the feeling of unease. "Just lost in thought." Erwin's eyes narrowed slightly, but he didn't press the issue. Instead, he nodded and took her hand, his touch gentle. "Let's go," he said, leading her away from the courtyard. "We have a lot of work to do, and I could use your help." Kenzy allowed herself to be led by Erwin, her mind still reeling from the encounter with Levi. She knew that she had to make a decision, and soon. But for now, she just walked beside him, lost in the turmoil of her own emotions. The night air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers as they walked through the gardens, the sound of their footsteps echoing through the silence. Kenzy felt like she was walking on eggshells, unsure of what the future held or what her feelings truly meant. As they reached the edge of the garden, Kenzy caught sight of a figure watching her from afar. It was Hange, their fellow Scout, and he looked like he had a secret to share. She exchanged a brief glance with him, and he nodded in her direction, his eyes sparkling with curiosity. "What's going on?" Kenzy asked Erwin, trying to keep her voice light. "Just a meeting with Commander Hange," Erwin replied, his eyes scanning the area. "He wants to discuss some new strategies with us." Kenzy's heart sank, and she felt a sense of unease wash over her. What did Hange want to discuss, and why was she getting the feeling that it was all connected to Levi's words? She exchanged a glance with Erwin, and he seemed to sense her unease. His grip on her hand tightened, and Kenzy felt a surge of comfort from his touch. "Let's go," she said, trying to sound brave. But little did she know, her life was about to change in ways she never could have imagined.
