Chapter 24: A Sensitive Situation
Part 23
I took a deep breath and let my voice barely above a whisper as I spoke, "Hey Adrian...” My words trailed off, and I hesitated, unsure of how to finish the sentence. Adrian's eyes narrowed slightly, his gaze intensifying as he waited for me to continue. I swallowed hard, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside me. I had been wanting to ask him this question for a while now, but I had been too afraid. "Let's say if I wanted to experience something intimate... would you be okay with it?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly. Adrian's expression changed, his eyes widening in surprise. He looked taken aback by my question, and for a moment, he just stared at me. I could see the wheels turning in his mind, and I knew that he was processing my words. "Because I know you're twenty-one and I haven't turned eighteen yet," I added, feeling a sense of vulnerability wash over me. I was aware of the age difference between us, and I knew that it was a significant one. Adrian's eyes locked onto mine, and I saw a mixture of emotions there. He looked concerned, but also... intrigued. "I... I don't know what to say," he said, his voice low and hesitant. "I mean, I care about you, and I don't want to do anything that would make you uncomfortable or put you in a difficult situation." He paused, collecting his thoughts before continuing. "But at the same time, I also don't want to lie to you and say that I'm not interested. Because I am. I've been interested in you for a while now." I felt a flutter in my chest as I heard his words. I had been hoping that he might feel the same way, but I was also scared. I was scared of what might happen, of what other people might think. Adrian's eyes never left mine as he continued, "But we need to be realistic here. There is an age difference between us, and there are consequences to what we're talking about. I'm not just talking about the legal implications, but also the emotional ones." He took a deep breath, his expression serious. "I want to make sure that you're ready for whatever might happen. And I also want to make sure that I'm not taking advantage of you in any way." I nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude towards him. He was being honest with me, and he was considering my feelings. That meant a lot to me. "So, what's your answer?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Adrian's eyes searched mine, and I could see him weighing his options. "My answer is that I care about you, and I want to do what's right for you. If you're interested in exploring something intimate, I want to make sure that we're doing it for the right reasons, and that we're both on the same page." He paused, his expression thoughtful. "But I also want to make it clear that I'm not going to push you into anything. If you're not ready, or if you're not sure, then that's okay. We can wait, or we can just stay friends. Your choice." I felt a sense of relief wash over me, mixed with a sense of excitement. I knew that this was a big decision, one that could change everything between us. But I also knew that I had to be honest with myself, and with Adrian.
