**A Laid-Back Afternoon**

Part 1

Sans was chilling at his hotdog stand, or rather, a stand that happened to be next to a hotdog store that actually sold hotdogs and had customers. He had no idea why his stand was popular, but he shrugged it off and continued to lay back, enjoying the beautiful clear sky. It was a perfect day for a walk. He stood up and began to stroll through the city, taking in the sights and sounds of people going about their daily business. He watched as kids played, and monsters and humans interacted with each other. As he walked, he noticed a park with a big playground, a pond with ducks, and a bench on the corner with shade. He made his way over to the bench and sat down, taking in the peaceful atmosphere. Just as he was relaxing, a policewoman with short hair approached him. It was Undyne, and she looked like she had something on her mind. "Hey, Sans," she said, sitting down beside him. "Got a minute?" Sans chuckled and closed his eyes, leaning back into the bench. "I got the whole day, in fact." Undyne rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "I need to ask you something... Why aren't you doing anything with your life?" Sans opened his eyes, not surprised by her directness. "What do you mean? I'm doing something... I'm selling hotdogs." Undyne stared at him, her expression a mix of surprise and concern. "You know what I mean... Everyone is doing something. Papyrus is a famous ambassador, Mettaton is a celebrity, and even Alphys is making a new revolution in tech and magic. And yet, you're just selling hotdogs like nothing's changed." Sans shrugged, his usual laid-back tone. "That's just how things turned out." Undyne sighed and looked at the sky. "Really, just because that's how things go... No ambitions, no purpose?" Sans closed his eyes again, his voice barely above a whisper. "I guess so." Undyne raised an eyebrow. "You seem more troubled by this problem of being a mere policewoman than my funny state, though." Sans opened his eyes, looking at Undyne. "You seem really frustrated. What's going on?" Undyne sighed, her frustration boiling over. "I'm stuck being a mere cop, doing paperwork all day. I'm not doing anything meaningful. And it's not like I have many options. We're monsters, remember? We're lucky they even allowed us to have jobs in the first place." Sans listened, his expression sympathetic. "You still hate humans, huh?" Undyne gave him a sarcastic look. "What gave you that idea? I freaking love it..." Sans rolled his eyes. "Yeah, yeah, sarcasm got it." Undyne sighed, her frustration fading away a bit. "I don't hate them... I hate what humans have done and are doing. It's just... frustrating." Sans gave a small shrug. "But look on the bright side... Our state is much better than how we started. Papyrus and the human, Frisk, made so much progress, letting us settle." Undyne nodded, a bit of tension leaving her shoulders. "Yeah... Papyrus really is the coolest, and Frisk... I guess she's alright." The conversation continued, with Undyne expressing her frustration and Sans listening, occasionally offering words of encouragement. As they talked, Sans couldn't help but think about his own life, his own feelings of stagnation and purposelessness. He seemed to be drifting through life, without any real direction or ambition. As the conversation went on, Undyne's frustration turned to determination. "I'll show 'em! I'll prove to them that a monster can do just as much as a human, if not more!" Sans chuckled, genuinely happy to see a bit of her old confidence back. "Heh, I have no doubt you will." The two of them sat in silence for a moment, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the park. Then, Undyne spoke up again. "Hey, you said you were frustrated too, right?" Sans nodded, rubbing his arm where she had punched him earlier. "Yeah, I did say that." Undyne looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Wait, what do you mean you can't go to Grillby's anymore? Did something happen?" Sans shrugged, his tone turning a little sadder. "Well... it's not that I can't go to Grillby's. It's just that it's not the same anymore." The conversation continued, with Sans and Undyne talking about Grillby's, Papyrus, and life in general. As they talked, Sans couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia wash over him. Things had changed, and he wasn't sure if he was ready for it. The scene ended with Sans and Undyne sitting on the bench, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, and each other's company. But as they sat there, Sans couldn't help but wonder... what was next? What would the future hold for him, for Undyne, and for the monsters and humans living together in the underground and in the city? Only time would tell.
