New Faces and Old Routines
Part 2
Spencer Reid was engrossed in a conversation with Derek Morgan, discussing the latest developments in a case, when he noticed a commotion at the entrance of the room. Derek followed his gaze and saw a young woman with brown hair and blue eyes, accompanied by an older man, walking towards them. "Ah, Derek, I think we have some new arrivals," Reid said, a hint of excitement in his voice. The woman, Alexis McQuaide, looked a bit nervous as she scanned the room, her eyes locking onto the team. She was dressed in a simple yet professional outfit, and her hair was pulled back in a neat ponytail. The older man, Steve McQuaide, her father, smiled warmly as he approached the team. "Aaron, I see you're as busy as ever," Steve said, shaking hands with Hotchner, who had walked over to greet them. "Steve, good to see you," Hotchner replied, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "And this must be Alexis, my long-lost niece." Alexis smiled, a bit shyly, as she extended her hand to Hotchner. "Hi, Uncle Aaron." The team began to gather around, curious about the new agent. Derek, always the charmer, stepped forward to greet Alexis. "Welcome to the team, Alexis. I'm Derek Morgan." Alexis shook his hand, her eyes sparkling with a mix of excitement and nerves. "Thanks, Derek. It's great to be here." JJ, always the social butterfly, swooped in to introduce herself. "Hi, Alexis, I'm Jennifer Jareau. We're all excited to have you on board." As the team began to introduce themselves, Penelope Garcia, who had been watching from her workstation, jumped up to join the group. "Hi, Alexis, I'm Penelope Garcia. I'll be showing you to your workstation and getting you set up with all the necessary paperwork." Emily Prentiss, who had been observing the scene, stepped forward to greet Alexis. "Welcome, Alexis. I'm Emily Prentiss. We'll be working closely together, so feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions." As the introductions continued, David Rossi, the team's seasoned veteran, watched with a keen eye, taking in Alexis's demeanor and body language. He noticed that she seemed a bit uncertain, but also eager to prove herself. Reid, ever the analytical mind, began to observe Alexis's interactions with the team, taking mental notes of her behavior and personality traits. He was intrigued by her PCOS, a condition he had studied extensively, and wondered how it might impact her work. As the team continued to welcome Alexis, Steve McQuaide smiled, feeling a sense of pride and relief. He had driven his daughter to work, eager to make sure she was settling in okay, and now he could finally head back to Texas, knowing that Alexis was in good hands. With the introductions out of the way, Hotchner gestured towards the conference room. "Let's get down to business, team. We have a case to discuss, and Alexis, I'd like you to join us." As the team filed into the conference room, Alexis followed, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. She was about to embark on a journey that would challenge her skills, test her limits, and change her life forever.
