The Next Challenge
Part 234
"I'm fine, Ochaco," I said, wincing slightly as I moved my arm. Ochaco looked unconvinced, but she nodded and stepped back, allowing me to continue. As I caught my breath, I noticed the announcer standing on the stage, a microphone in hand. "And now, for the next match, we have Vesper going up against Kaminari! Let's see how they'll fare against each other!" The crowd cheered and chanted my name as I made my way to the stage. Kaminari, grinning confidently, was already waiting for me. We faced off, and the match began. Kaminari charged at me, his eyes gleaming with excitement. He was known for his electrifying quirk, and I could tell he was eager to show it off. As we clashed, he unleashed a burst of voltage, sending sparks flying everywhere. But I was prepared for him. I dodged and weaved, avoiding the worst of the shocks. Kaminari, however, seemed to be getting more and more carried away. He kept increasing the voltage, his movements becoming more erratic. I saw my chance and took it. With a swift kick, I sent Kaminari stumbling back. He tried to regain his footing, but I was too fast. I pinned him to the ground, and the crowd erupted into cheers. As I stood up, victorious, I noticed Deku, Ochaco, and Osby watching me with concern. Deku's eyes were narrowed, his brow furrowed in worry. Ochaco's face was etched with concern, and Osby's eyes were fixed on my arm. I looked down and saw that my bruised arm was starting to swell. I winced in pain, but I refused to give in. I gritted my teeth and kept moving, not wanting to show weakness in front of my friends and the crowd. Deku took a step forward, his eyes locked on mine. "Vesper, are you okay? You look like you're in pain." I forced a smile, trying to reassure him. "I'm fine, Deku. Just a little tired." Ochaco and Osby exchanged a skeptical glance, but they didn't push the issue. Deku nodded, seeming to accept my answer, but his eyes lingered on me, filled with concern. As I walked off the stage, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was in for a world of hurt later. But for now, I was just happy to have won. I made my way back to my friends, ready to face whatever challenges came next. The crowd was still cheering, and I could feel their energy coursing through me. I grinned, feeling elated and proud. But as I glanced down at my arm, I knew that I wouldn't be able to ignore the pain for long.
