The Oversight
Part 6
In the chaos of preparing to leave the Southern Isles, Hans found himself accidentally left behind. He had wandered off to explore the castle, and by the time he returned, the rest of the group was already gone. The sound of the departing ship's horn and the cries of the sailors as they set sail filled the air, making Hans's heart sink. Panic set in as he realized he was alone and stranded. He frantically searched the castle, hoping to find someone who could help him, but it was empty and quiet. The once vibrant halls now seemed cold and unforgiving. Hans felt a wave of fear wash over him as he wondered how he would survive on his own. As he walked through the deserted halls, Hans stumbled upon a window that offered a glimpse of the departing ship. He watched as it sailed further and further away, feeling a pang of sadness and desperation. The tears he had held back finally fell, and he let out a cry of despair. The reality of his situation slowly began to sink in. He was alone, with no food, no money, and no way to communicate with the outside world. The thought of being trapped in this castle, with no one to turn to, was unbearable. Hans thought about his family, and how they would react when they found out he was missing. He thought about Iduna, and how she would try to help him. As night began to fall, Hans curled up in a corner of the castle, trying to make sense of his situation. He couldn't shake the feeling that he was in grave danger, not just from the physical isolation, but also from the darkness that lurked within his own home. The next morning, Hans set out to explore the castle and find some way to survive. He scavenged for food and supplies, trying to find anything that could sustain him. As he rummaged through the kitchen, he found some stale bread and water, which he devoured hungrily. As he ate, Hans couldn't help but think about his life back home. He thought about his father, King Westergaard, and his brothers, Rudi, Runo, and Caleb. He thought about the abuse he had suffered at their hands, and the pain it had left him with. The memories he had tried to suppress came flooding back, and Hans felt a wave of anxiety wash over him. He knew he couldn't stay in the castle forever, but for now, it was his only refuge. Hans tried to focus on finding a way to escape, but his mind kept drifting back to the pain of his past. He knew he had to find a way to heal, but it seemed like an impossible task. As the sun began to set, Hans retreated to his makeshift bed, trying to find some solace in the darkness. He knew that tomorrow would bring new challenges, but he was determined to face them head-on. Little did he know that help was on the way, and that his life was about to take a dramatic turn for the better. In the distance, Hans heard the sound of the castle's gates opening, and he wondered who could be visiting at such a late hour. He cautiously approached the window, peeking out into the night. A figure emerged from the shadows, and Hans's heart skipped a beat as he saw a glimmer of hope. But for now, he remained hidden, waiting to see what the future held.
