**Chapter 9: The Breakup**

Part 9

The sun shone brightly through the windows of Kai's dorm room, casting a warm glow over the space. Enzo stood outside the door, his heart racing with anticipation and anxiety. He had been preparing himself for this moment for what felt like an eternity. He took a deep breath, his hand trembling slightly as he raised it to knock on the door. The door opened, and Kai's face appeared. He looked relaxed, almost too relaxed. Enzo's instincts told him that something was off, but he pushed on. "Kai, we need to talk," Enzo said, his voice firm. Kai's expression changed, and he stepped aside, allowing Enzo to enter. Enzo took a deep breath and walked into the room, his eyes scanning the space. It was a typical dorm room, with a bed, a desk, and a few posters on the wall. But to Enzo, it felt like a prison cell, a reminder of all the times he had been trapped and abused. Enzo and Kai sat down on the bed, facing each other. Enzo could feel the tension between them, like a palpable force that threatened to suffocate him. He knew he had to get this over with. "I'm done, Kai," Enzo said, his voice firm. "I'm done with this relationship. I'm done with the abuse, the manipulation...I'm done." Kai's face remained calm, and he nodded. "I expected as much," he said, his voice low and even. "But before you go, I need to tell you something." Enzo's heart sank, and he felt a sense of trepidation. "What is it?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Kai's smile was cold, and it sent shivers down Enzo's spine. "I cheated on you, Enzo," he said, his eyes glinting with a mixture of amusement and malice. "The other night, I was with someone else." Enzo felt a wave of shock wash over him, but he didn't react. He was numb. He had suspected that Kai was cheating on him, but hearing it from Kai's own lips was a different story altogether. Enzo thought back to all the times Kai had forced him into sexual activities, all the times he had been violated and abused. He thought about the fear and the anxiety that had become his constant companion. And he thought about the relief he felt now, knowing that he was finally free. "I'm glad we're over," Enzo said, his voice firm. Kai nodded, and for a moment, Enzo saw a glimmer of the person he used to be, the person he had thought he loved. But it was too late. Enzo was gone, and he wasn't coming back. As Enzo stood up to leave, Kai's expression changed. For a moment, Enzo saw a flash of anger and desperation in his eyes. But it was quickly replaced by a mask of calmness. "Don't go," Kai said, his voice low and urgent. "Please, Enzo, don't go." Enzo shook his head, his heart heavy with emotion. "I'm gone, Kai," he said, his voice firm. "And I'm not coming back." With that, Enzo turned and walked out of Kai's dorm room, leaving behind the toxic relationship that had almost destroyed him. He took a deep breath of fresh air, feeling a sense of relief and freedom wash over him. He was finally free, and he knew he would never go back.
