Rising Concerns

Part 12

Jacquie slowly got out of bed, her joints creaking in protest as she made her way to the bathroom to start getting ready for the day. Noah stayed behind, still lying in bed, his eyes fixed on his phone as he scrolled through his social media feed. She closed the bathroom door behind her, and began to wash her face, trying to shake off the lingering fatigue. As she brushed her teeth, Jacquie couldn't help but notice that her mouth felt dry and her stomach was churning again. She felt a wave of nausea wash over her, and she quickly ran to the toilet, her hand covering her mouth. She was sick again, just like yesterday, but this time it seemed worse. Noah heard her and immediately sat up in bed, concern etched on his face. "Jacquie, are you okay?" he called out, his voice laced with worry. Jacquie took a few deep breaths, trying to calm herself down. She knew she needed to get a hold of herself, but her body seemed to be rebelling against her. She splashed some water on her face, and took a few more deep breaths before opening the door. Noah was already out of bed, his eyes scanning her face for any signs of distress. "What's wrong?" he asked, his voice firm with concern. Jacquie shook her head, feeling a little embarrassed. "I'm just...sick again," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. Noah's expression turned serious, and he quickly walked over to her, his arm wrapping around her waist. "We need to get you to the doctor today," he said, his voice firm. "I'm booking an appointment online." Jacquie nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She knew that Noah was right - she needed to get some help, and fast. Noah pulled out his phone and started typing away, his brow furrowed in concentration. "I've got an appointment for 10 am at the clinic down the street," he said, looking up at her. "We'll get you checked out, and figure out what's going on." Jacquie nodded, feeling a little more hopeful. Maybe the doctor could give her some answers, and help her feel better. She took a deep breath, and let Noah lead her back to the bed, where she collapsed onto the pillows, feeling exhausted. Noah sat down beside her, his hand brushing against her hair. "We'll get through this, okay?" he said, his voice soft with reassurance. Jacquie smiled weakly, feeling grateful for Noah's support. She knew that with him by her side, she could face whatever was going on, and come out on top.
