New Beginnings
Part 18
Two weeks had passed since Ashley's appointment with Dr. Thompson, and now she was back in the hospital, sitting in the waiting room, waiting to see her oncologist about the results of her PET scan. Dominic was by her side, holding her hand and offering words of encouragement as she flipped through a magazine. Ashley had been feeling a mix of emotions, from anxiety to excitement, as she waited to hear the results of her scan. She had been cancer-free for five months now, and she was eager to know if the cancer was truly gone. As they called her name, Ashley stood up, smoothing out her dress, and followed Dominic to Dr. Thompson's office. The doctor smiled warmly as they entered, and Ashley felt a sense of relief wash over her. "So, Ashley, I have the results of your PET scan right here," Dr. Thompson said, holding up a sheet of paper. "And I have good news for you. The scan shows that there is no sign of cancer in your body. You're clear." Ashley let out a sigh of relief, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. She had been worried that the cancer might have come back, but now she could finally put those fears behind her. Dominic squeezed her hand, and Ashley turned to him, smiling. "We did it," she whispered, her eyes shining with tears. Dr. Thompson smiled. "You certainly did. And now that we have this behind us, I think it's time for you to start thinking about the next chapter in your life. You've been wanting to get back to performing, haven't you?" Ashley nodded eagerly, her heart racing with excitement. She had missed being on stage, and she was eager to get back to doing what she loved. "I think it's time for you to start taking singing lessons again," Dr. Thompson said. "But before you start, I want you to see a specialist who can give you the all-clear. I've made an appointment for you with a doctor who specializes in vocal cord rehabilitation. He'll be able to assess your vocal cords and give you the green light to start singing again." Ashley beamed with excitement, feeling like she was finally getting her life back on track. She and Dominic left Dr. Thompson's office, feeling hopeful and excited about the future. Their next appointment was with the fertility specialist, Dr. Lee. Ashley had been waiting for this appointment for weeks, and she was eager to hear about her chances of getting pregnant. As they sat down in Dr. Lee's office, Ashley felt a sense of nervousness. What if she wasn't able to get pregnant? What if there were complications? But Dr. Lee's warm smile put her at ease. "So, Ashley, we've been monitoring your hormone levels, and everything looks good. We're ready to start trying for a baby." Ashley's heart soared as she looked at Dominic, her eyes shining with tears. They were really going to do this. They were going to have a baby. Dr. Lee went on to explain the process of trying to conceive, and Ashley listened intently, feeling a sense of excitement and anticipation. She and Dominic left the office, feeling like they were on the verge of a new adventure, one that would bring them joy and happiness. As they walked out of the hospital, Ashley turned to Dominic, smiling. "I feel like we're finally moving forward," she said, her voice filled with emotion. Dominic wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close. "We are," he said. "We're starting a new chapter in our lives, and it's going to be amazing."
