"Moments of Joy"
Part 2
As Ashley walked into Ender's room, she was greeted by a sight that made her laugh out loud. There, sitting on the floor, playing with the new 8-week-old Pitt Labrador, Franklin, was her son, giggling uncontrollably. But what made it even more hilarious was that Ender had dressed Franklin in his tiny underpants. The puppy, oblivious to his attire, was wagging his tail, and Ender was holding his belly in laughter. Ashley couldn't help but chuckle at the scene before her. "Ender, what have you done?" she asked, trying to compose herself. Ender looked up at her, his eyes shining with mirth, and exclaimed, "Mommy, I'm hungry!" Ashley scooped him up in her arms, burying her face in his hair. "What for, sweetie?" she asked, smiling as she kissed his nose. Ender thought for a moment before responding, "Pancakes! I want pancakes!" Ashley laughed and set him down on the floor. "Okay, buddy, let's go make some pancakes." As they walked out of the room, Franklin, still in his underpants, trotting behind them, Ashley couldn't help but feel grateful for these moments of joy. They were a reminder that life was precious, and that even in the darkest of times, there was always something to be cherished. As they made their way to the kitchen, Ender started chattering excitedly about his puppy, and Ashley listened, smiling. She was happy to see her son so carefree, and she knew that she had to hold onto these moments, to treasure them, because they were what made life worth living. The music that had once been her sanctuary now seemed to take on a new meaning, a way to express the emotions that she couldn't verbalize, the feelings that she couldn't quite put into words. As they cooked and ate their pancakes, Ashley felt a sense of peace wash over her. It was just a simple morning, but it was one that she would remember for a long time, one that would sustain her through the tough days ahead. And as she looked at Ender, his face smeared with syrup, and Franklin, now wearing a tiny puppy-sized t-shirt, she knew that she would do whatever it took to give him a happy, healthy life.
