**Chapter 2: The Hogwarts Letter**

Part 2

The letter arrived on a typical Wednesday afternoon, its creamy white envelope standing out among the bills and junk mail that Sally Jackson had sorted through with practiced ease. As she handed it to Percy, her eyes met his, and a spark of excitement danced in their depths. Percy's fingers trembled slightly as he took the envelope, his heart beating a little faster. The symbol on the seal – a golden snitch, he thought it was – looked vaguely familiar, but he couldn't quite place it. "What's this?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Sally's enigmatic smile hinted at secrets she wasn't quite ready to share. "I think it's time you found out, Percy," she said, her voice low and mysterious. Percy's eyes lingered on the envelope as he turned it over in his hands, feeling the weight of the letter inside. The address was in elegant, cursive script: "Mr. Percy Jackson, 17 West 24th Street, New York, NY". He looked up at his mom, who nodded encouragingly. "Go on, kiddo. Open it." With a deep breath, Percy slid his finger under the seal and pulled out the letter. His eyes scanned the page, and his heart leapt with excitement as he read the words: "Dear Mr. Jackson, We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry... Percy's eyes met his mom's, and they both smiled. A school for wizards? It sounded crazy, but at the same time, it felt...right. As Percy read on, his eyes widened with wonder. Hogwarts? Scotland? He had always thought of himself as a New York City kid, through and through. But something about this letter resonated with him, like he was meant to be a part of this world. Sally sat down beside him, a faraway look in her eyes. "You know, Percy, I've been waiting for this day for a long time," she said, her voice low and reflective. Percy turned to her, curious. "What do you mean?" Sally's gaze drifted back to his face. "I knew your parents, James and Lily. They were...special people. And Poseidon...well, he's a special god." Percy's mind reeled as he tried to process this information. His parents? The Potters? He had always known that his mom had relationships with several people before he was born, but he had never imagined... "Why didn't you tell me?" Percy asked, feeling a mix of emotions. Sally's expression was apologetic. "I was waiting for the right time, kiddo. And I think this letter is it." As they talked, Percy's excitement grew. A school for wizards? A world of magic and monsters? He felt like he was on the cusp of something incredible, something that would change his life forever. With a sense of anticipation, Percy folded the letter and tucked it back into the envelope. He looked up at his mom, a grin spreading across his face. "When do I leave?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Sally smiled, her eyes shining with tears. "Not for a while, kiddo. You've got a few weeks yet. But I think it's time we started getting ready." As they hugged, Percy felt a sense of wonder and excitement. He was about to embark on a journey that would take him to a world beyond his wildest dreams. A world where magic was real, and he was a part of it.
