**The Gathering Storm**

Part 5

As the conversation flowed, Gai couldn't help but notice the way Akane's eyes sparkled when she talked about her passion for ancient artifacts. Aisha, too, seemed to be opening up, her initial reserve giving way to a warm and infectious laughter. The three of them chatted for hours, discussing everything from their favorite books to their childhood memories. But as the sun began to set, casting a golden glow over the library, Akane's expression turned serious. "Guys, I need to ask you something," she said, her voice low and conspiratorial. "Have you noticed anything... strange going on around here?" Aisha and Gai exchanged a curious glance. "What do you mean?" Aisha asked, her brow furrowed with concern. Akane leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've been getting these weird messages, like someone's watching me. And I've seen people lurking around the academy at night, dressed in black. I don't know what's going on, but I have a bad feeling about it." Gai's mind began to whirl with possibilities. Who could be sending Akane threatening messages? And what did they want? He glanced at Aisha, who seemed to be thinking along the same lines. "We should tell Professor Kaito," Aisha suggested, her voice firm. "He'll know what to do." But Akane shook her head. "I don't think that's a good idea. I don't want to involve the faculty. Not yet, at least. I need to figure this out on my own." Gai's eyes narrowed. He didn't like the sound of this. "Akane, we can't just sit back and do nothing. We have to help you get to the bottom of this." As they spoke, the library's lanterns began to flicker, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The air seemed to grow colder, and the storm outside seemed to be intensifying. Suddenly, a loud crash of thunder boomed outside, making them all jump. Aisha stood up, her eyes scanning the room. "I think we should get out of here. This feels really bad." As they quickly gathered their belongings, Akane's eyes locked onto something across the room. Her expression turned pale, and she took a step back, as if she'd seen a ghost. "What's wrong?" Gai asked, following her gaze. But when he looked, he saw nothing out of the ordinary. The library was quiet, the only sound the creaking of old books and the distant rumble of thunder. Akane's voice was barely above a whisper. "I think we're being watched."
