A Moment of Misunderstanding
Part 15
A few months had passed since Levi and I had taken our relationship to the next level. Life had been good, and our love had only grown stronger with each passing day. But on this particular afternoon, I couldn't find Levi anywhere. I had been looking for him everywhere, and my search had finally led me to the common room. As I walked in, I scanned the room, my eyes searching for a glimpse of Levi's familiar face. And then, I saw him. He was sitting on the couch, and my heart skipped a beat as I saw Petra sitting on his lap. My world came crashing down around me. I felt like I had been punched in the gut. I couldn't breathe, couldn't think. All I could do was stare at the scene in front of me, my mind reeling with questions. How could he do this to me? Did he not love me anymore? I tried to take a step back, to retreat from the scene, but my legs felt like lead. I was frozen in place, unable to move or speak. Levi and Petra were chatting, laughing, and completely oblivious to my presence. Petra, with her bright smile and sparkling eyes, was sitting on Levi's lap, her arms wrapped around his neck. I felt a surge of anger and hurt, and I couldn't help but wonder if this was some kind of affair. But as I looked closer, I saw that Levi's face was tense, his eyes narrowed. He looked uncomfortable, and I realized that something wasn't quite right. Petra, on the other hand, looked like she was in heaven, her eyes shining with a lovesick expression. Suddenly, Petra looked up and saw me standing there, her eyes locking onto mine. She smiled, and I saw a flash of guilt in her eyes. Levi's eyes followed hers, and when he saw me, his face went white. "Kenzy," he said, his voice strained. "I can explain." But before he could say another word, Petra jumped up from his lap, her face flushing with embarrassment. "I'm so sorry, Kenzy," she said, her voice trembling. "I had no idea you were looking for him. I just...I don't know, I just really needed a hug, and Levi was here, and..." Levi stood up, his eyes locked on mine, and I saw a flash of anger in his eyes. "Petra, get out of here," he said, his voice firm but controlled. "Now." Petra nodded, her eyes welling up with tears, and quickly exited the room. Levi turned to me, his eyes searching for understanding. "Kenzy, it's not what it looks like," he said, his voice urgent. "Petra has had a crush on me for a while now, and she just...she jumped on my lap without warning. I didn't invite her to sit on my lap, and I definitely didn't encourage her." I looked at him, trying to read his expression. He looked sincere, but I was still hurt. "Why didn't you tell her to get off?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Levi took a step forward, his eyes locked on mine. "I was taken aback, to be honest," he said. "I didn't know how to react. But as soon as I saw you standing there, I knew I had to get her off my lap. I would never intentionally do anything to hurt you, Kenzy. You know that." I looked at him, searching for the truth in his eyes. And what I saw there reassured me that he was telling the truth. This had been a misunderstanding, and not a deliberate attempt to hurt me. But still, the hurt lingered, and I knew that we had some talking to do.
